Our Story
The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research.
The Iowa Chapter was formed on July 1, 2018 when two former chapters (East Central Iowa and Greater Iowa) with over 30 years of experience in serving the community, merged to become one. Our chapter is part of the National Alzheimer's Association, headquartered in Chicago. The Alzheimer’s Association was started by family caregivers who came together around a common need of getting support and help for their loved ones with dementia. Since 1979, our donor-supported, nonprofit Alzheimer’s Association has provided reliable information and care consultation; created supportive services for families; increased funding for dementia research; and influenced public policy changes.
