Bless this mother-to-be with strength and courage as she journeys through these months of anticipation. Grant her peace and reassurance in knowing that you are watching over her and her baby every step of the way.

Surround her with love and support from family and friends, and guide her healthcare providers to provide the best care possible.

Lord, we pray for the health and well-being of both mother and child. Protect them from harm, and grant them the grace to overcome any challenges that may arise.

May this pregnancy be a time of joy, anticipation, and spiritual growth for the entire family. Help them to cherish each moment and to always trust in your divine plan.

We ask for your blessings upon this expectant mother and her baby, now and always.

Black Maternal Health Week is celebrated annually from April 11–17 to raise awareness and action to improve the health of Black mothers. The week also marks International Day for maternal health and rights, and is an opportunity to advocate for the elimination of maternal mortality globally.

The White House has nationally recognized Black Maternal Health Week since 2021. The campaign’s goal is to deepen the national conversation about Black maternal health so that public stakeholders understand how systemic racism is a driver of maternal health inequities.
Black women are nearly three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than White women. The rate of infant mortality among Black babies is almost two times higher than the national average, and preterm birth rates are 50 percent higher among Black women than among White or Hispanic women.

Activities during Black Maternal Health Week are rooted in human rights, reproductive justice, and birth justice frameworks. For example, the Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA) highlights and centers culturally-congruent practices with a focus on Black Midwifery care and full-spectrum Black-led Doula care as sound, evidence-based solutions.
