⏰Establish a morning routine and practice it every day for at least 1 week before school starts.

🎒This includes all the steps needed to get ready in the morning. From waking up on time, putting on school clothes, and eating a healthy morning meal.

🗓A visual schedule may help your child transition between activities or recall steps in their routine and helps empower your children to increase independence in their day-to-day routine.

💡📚🎒Here are some tips to consider when developing a morning routine and visual schedule:

🚀You can use pictures for concrete learners or words for strong readers to create the visual schedule.

🚀Review the schedule and routine with your children the night before and encourage them to identify the steps of the morning routine

🚀Ask your child for suggestions on what to include in the morning routine.

🚀Consider using a whiteboard and dry erase marker when developing the schedule to allow for changes to the schedule if necessary.

🚀Make the morning routine fun! 🎡
Play upbeat music, pretend to be animals when transitioning between rooms, and leave a note for your child at the breakfast table.💌

We can’t believe it’s already back-to-school time ✏️📚🎒
Here are some tips to set up a homework space for your child! 🥳📚✏️

🟡Choose a quiet environment with the appropriate table size and chair for your child’s height.

🟢Add a slant board to help improve posture, increase paper stability, and promote a proper pencil grasp with shoulder stability and wrist positioning.

🟣Add a wiggle seat/disc for extra movement sensory input while seated at the table top. This is great for children that have good core strength and balance, but enjoy movement in order to focus.

🔴Add a book or stool under your child’s feet for support to promote the 3 points of positioning, seated upright with hips at a 90 degree angle, knees at 90 degrees, and ankles at 90 degrees.

🟠Consider alternative seating options like sitting on an exercise ball if your child has good core strength and balance. You can also allow your child to sit on the floor as an alternative to sitting at the table.

🔵Allow for breaks when needed!
