Never mix up price with style. Style is much deeper.

It is looking at line and silhouette, compositions, and attributes. A high priced item may not be all that stylish or attractive and vice versa.

The trick is to train your eye and find style wherever you look.

I always joke- I can find you something stylish at a gas station! And I can.

Don’t take it too seriously and have some fun with it! Layering the highs and lows are what creates interest and what builds a style.

Design Trends are not so new- it’s all rooted in past design and reinterpreted. Don’t get too hung up on them- it all repeats - it’s all based on past history and past designs.

Look through books of different past genres- you will see it all!

And when you simply buy what you like- and drown out the noise of “is it right?, am I making a mistake?” and more- that’s what will lead you to YOUR style!

I’m from Maine.

For thirty-three years,
I’ve made my home
In New Hampshire.

But if you ask me
Where I’m from?
I’m from Maine.

ragged shoreline
miles of potato farms
in the County
dense evergreen woods
of Baxter State Park
Katahdin rising above
the smell of pulp mills,
and the flats at low tide,
and pier fries at Old Orchard.

I’m from Maine
flannel and the Cumberland Fair,
apples from Sweetsers,
the Old Port on a Saturday night,
summer stock on the Bowdoin campus,
blueberry season,
the bridges of Bangor
Belfast, Boothbay,

Lewiston.

The sounds of Maine
Are the sounds
of gulls,
foghorns and French accents,
traffic on Route One
in the summer,
revving engines at Oxford,
The Portland Symphony,
And now,

Gunfire.

I’m from Maine.
Broken
Bleeding
Shattered.

I’m from Maine
And always will be.

Cece did a little photo bomb here- but it reminds me that just as our spaces can and should be full of beauty- that doesn’t mean they can’t be practical and for the whole family to enjoy and use.

You were a pioneer for your generation - becoming an entrepreneur, antiquarian, appraiser, and auctioneer when women had expected roles that were much different.

You always encouraged me to have my own business. I was surrounded by art, books, furniture, textiles, and more since birth.

And when I was old enough to help move the furniture around- well we did that a lot! That must be why I love space planning so much!
I had a Masters in design and aesthetics well before I even knew it!

It feels part of my DNA. So my passion for Interior Design and being a female business owner began here.

You turned 84 years young a few days ago and we will celebrate soon!🎉

Some things- ARE worth keeping!

This client’s table in their breakfast nook was a unique size. It was also built solid which was important in this active household. After looking at the marketplace- including custom made- we simply couldn’t find a true match. So I suggested we give this table a new life— and WOW 🤩did it turn out better than anything we could have dreamed!

It was sanded, bleached, stained and sealed.

It’s perfect and now has a second life!

If something you own is built solid and works- consider giving it new life. Not all things qualify but this sure did!
