UPDATE ON MT VERNON 58 CAT HOARDING CASE!!!
We are so thrilled that our little love bug Lucia has gotten adopted! Thank you Cat Assistance for making that happen!
In addition, Bear and Panda are with our friends at POSH. Please check them out as they are super sweet. And thank you SPCA for taking in 4 as well.
Although we have since placed about 30 cats, there are still over 20 that need fosters and/or placement. We will post individual pics soon.
We are over $12,000 in veterinary care. We so appreciate everyone who donated but we only raised $500. Please help us cover the veterinary costs! We do not ever want to say no, but we need the donations to keep us going!
Bear is more than ready for his new chapter!!
Please share this gorgeous panther !
Thank you Posh Pet Rescue for continuing to help our community ❤️❤️

Almost a year ago Oreo's jaw got "stuck" and she couldn't open her mouth. Her tongue was hanging out all the time and vets had no proper diagnosis! Friends for Animal Rescue NY helped her get to a specialist and have surgery to open her jaw just a bit to get her tongue back in. She lived for months with medication, a feeding tube and Victorian collar. No eating, no treats, no playing and no outdoor walks so she wouldn't have a breathing issue. But guess what? Her jaw kept opening gradually and she can finally eat and play again! She's not 100 percent but her quality of life is back. So glad we could help her family not give up on her. Good luck Oreo!

URGENT help needed to pace VERY SWEET CATS from hoarding situation!!!
In June we were made aware of an urgent situation at a home in Mt Vernon. As you know, our 501c3 was previously knows as Friends of Mt Vernon Shelter Animals and we focused our efforts on the animals in the shelter. Since the closing of the shelter, we have expanded our mission beyond the brick and mortar building but continue to focus our efforts on the animals in the beloved city that gave us our start.
We found 58 cats living in overcrowded conditions, reproducing, and not receiving veterinary care. To make it even more difficult, the owners were evicted and we were given weeks to get the animals out. Friends has since provided veterinary care for over 40 of them and are committed to helping all 58. We provided emergency vet care for the dire ones who had skin issues, URI's, and stomatitis. They are now healing nicely. In addition, we provided spay / neuter and vaccines on them all.
We scrambled and found temporary placement for all of them just in time for the eviction. But the placement is just that - temporary. Some are in cages at volunteer homes - other being boarded at Guardian Veterinary Specialists (thank you Dr Berg!!!) We have local rescues like Posh Pets Rescue and Cat Assistance NY that are willing to help get them adopted once they free up some space. It is August and adoptions are low!
We are putting out a DESPERATE plea for fosters, rescues, and adopters to please help us find placement. Despite the conditions that these cats came from, most are super sweet!!!! Many come looking for attention and love getting pets! Others are chill and just need a warm bed to call home.
We are over $12,000 in veterinary care as we did not turn our back on any of them and each of them are vetted and ready to go! Please help us cover the veterinary costs as this situation is drowning us! We do not ever want to say no, but we need the donations to keep us going!
Sharing for another group who has always come to our rescue , even when they are completely full !! Please donate, share and support
So glad we could help Sir Tank get Ready For Rescue! He hasn't had the easiest 8 years but he's had a thorough vet visit and check-up and he's eager to move on to the best part of his life. Check out his listing

💥KITTEN FOSTERS URGENTLY NEEDED💥
With kittens arriving daily at our shelter, we are looking for kitten fosters in the vicinity of our shelter in Long Beach or in other areas but able to bring them back to the shelter for vetting. Experience with fostering kittens is a plus (especially with timid and scared ones) but not a must (we can guide you). Fosters must have a separate room to keep the kittens (can even be a spare bathroom) or somewhere they can keep a large pen or crate. Many of our kittens are too young to be fully vetted so should be kept separate from any resident cats. Fosters must be able to commit to a minimum of 4-5 weeks.
If you are interested in making a difference in a kittens life fill out a foster application below:

🆘URGENT UPDATE PLEASE DONATE and SHARE THIS STORY 🆘 We cannot help any other cats until we can raise money for Allie who has cost us nearly $6,000 in her cancer treatment so far! We love Allie and she is worth every penny to save her after what happened to her outside- but without support we can’t do much more. ❤️🩹The biopsy showed she indeed has Lymphoma💔 THANKFULLY she is doing really well with her chemo treatments! Her initial stay and her weekly treatments have been very costly (and life saving) and the vet has even said they are impressed at how well she is doing 💗 She is an incredibly resilient kitten and we promised to help her so we are. ❤️🩹
‼️As this is a very large expense for us, please consider donating and/or sharing so others can donate! Every dollar counts! ‼️ We 💯CANNOT take on anything more than, and we already have other cats in our care that need medical care too!
