On Juneteenth, we commemorate the end of slavery in the United States and honor the resilience, strength, and perseverance of African Americans. Although the Emancipation Proclamation was issued in 1863, it wasn't until June 19th, 1865, that the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, were finally freed. This day serves as a reminder of the long and arduous journey towards equality and justice, and we must continue to work towards a more inclusive and equitable society for all. Let us celebrate the progress made while remembering the sacrifices of those who came before us. Happy Juneteenth!

United Way, Changing Lives in Westchester and Putnam
Westchester and Putnam are considered to be two of the most affluent counties in the country. They are portrayed as being filled with sprawling mansions, charming suburbs and bustling cities.
But the truth is that four out of ten households are struggling financially⌠they are living in poverty or from paycheck to paycheck. Sometimes having to work multiple jobs just to cover their familiesâ basic needs.
As a supporter of united way of Westchester and Putnam, you are part of the answer.
