Kansas Chapter of Malaya: U.S. Movement Against Killings and Dictatorship in the Philippines.
For Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, Malaya Kansas is hosting a film screening of “The Rise of the I-Hotel,” a short documentary about the history of the International Hotel in San Francisco and the Filipino/Asian-American community that fought to save it.

Synopsis:
As the EDSA Revolution unfolds, a mother, son, and daughter who live in a slum near Malacañang Palace grapple with the murder of their patriarch in the hands of corrupt policemen, turning from passive victims of social injustice into active participants in the final hours of the uprising. Oras de Peligro features actual video footage, audio, photos, and newspaper clippings of the real events that led to the February 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution.
The film is in Filipino, with English subtitles.
Runtime: 1 hour 44 minutes
