This week's mobile distributions can be found in Rush County KS and in Wichita with our friends at New Life Church Of Wichita!

This morning, our team arrived at work ready to help feed our neighbors, and instead found our windows and doors had been vandalized for the second time in a month by someone throwing rocks. We are terribly saddened by this senseless vandalism, which shattered 9 of our windows and the front door. 💔

The volunteer center is rockin’ today, and a full volunteer center = full hearts!👏💙

Team members from Textron Aviation are bagging apples, while Cox Communications employees are busy on the Food 4 Kids packing line.

Thanks so much for coming to spend your afternoon fighting hunger with us - your gift of time means a neighbor will have fresh apples for their family, or a kid will have the food they need over the weekend, and that is worth the world to us. 🍎🎒

The Kansas Food Bank is excited to be teaming up with Quivira Council, Boy Scouts of America and Dillons for Scouting for Food 2024 on Saturday, August 24th & Sunday, August 25th!

Over the weekend, troops will be on site at Dillons stores across our service area collecting some of our most-needed items at the store entrance, and will be working towards earning their Community Service badge.

Note: The Kansas Food Bank will still have our Mobile Hygiene Pantry on the 3rd Saturday morning of each month at The Lord's Diner on Hillside.

Open Door's first Head to Toe Hygiene Pantry of August is tomorrow!

Hygiene Packs will be available for pickup 9:00 am - 11:45 am and will typically include:
Toilet paper
Laundry detergent
Bar soap
Shampoo
Deodorant
Toothpaste

These items may vary. Also available by request will be toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products, adult absorbent briefs, baby diapers, and wipes. These may also vary in availability.

Requirements: I.D. for all household members, proof of address, and disclosure of all household income.

Mobile distributions are for anyone in need of a little extra help, and this week can be found in a number of counties across Kansas!

"Being able to receive meat from the food pantry has been so helpful to me and my family, and makes it so I can afford other items on my list at the store."

We often hear stories and comments like this from our pantry partners and the neighbors they serve, which is why we are so thankful to receive protein donations!

Yesterday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints & Kansas Latter-day Saints made a humanitarian donation of 30,888 pounds of ground beef and pork roast. The meat comes ranches owned and operated by the Church, Deseret Farms.

This gift will impact thousands of families across our 85-county service area, providing much-needed protein for many struggling with food insecurity. Thank you so much for this incredible donation, and helping us feed Kansans!

We love our partnerships with our local farmers! 🥗🌶️🥒🌽

Check out these beautiful cucumbers, peppers & cabbage, and sweet corn that came in from our friends at Firefly Farm, C & C High Tunnel Farms, Gaeddert Farms Sweet Corn and bagged into family-sized portions by our awesome volunteers before heading out to our partner pantries.

Another day of feeding families, thanks to Arby's Foundation and Flynn Group!

This morning, 45 of our friends from Arby's came to volunteer and helped sort over 5,600 pounds of potatoes into over 800 family-sized bags that will go out through our network of partner pantries.

In addition to volunteering, they presented our Kansas Food Bank team with a wonderful gift of $10,500 for our Food 4 Kids program, which will help provide thousands of weekend packets of food for chronically hungry kids through the school year.

Thank you to the entire Arby's team for your generosity, and helping us feed Kansas families through your efforts. Let's hear it for our Arby's Hunger Heroes! 👏💙

Filling the Gap is a distribution for any kids 18 & under who need a little extra food before school is back in session! While you do not need to pre-register, kids MUST be present to pick up.

🏎️ Melissa & Kate are at the South Central Kansas Mustang Club Car Show today at Sedgwick County Park, celebrating our partnership that has helped raise nearly $15,000 for the Food 4 Kids program!

🧼 Jane, Lisa, Tobie, Steve, Debi & our wonderful Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. volunteers are ready to serve our neighbors at Mobile Hygiene Pantry at The Lord's Diner on Hillside starting at 9 AM.

For 40 years, the Kansas Food Bank has provided missing meals and nourishment in the Wichita area and beyond. We could not be where we are today without the support of the local eateries and shops that share our passion for feeding our community.

Today, we are extremely excited to announce an upcoming week-long event to celebrate the restaurants, coffee shops & breweries, specialty shops, food trucks and more that make Wichita so special, while helping feed our food insecure neighbors.

ICT Restaurant Week presented by JRI Hospitality and Mokas Coffee, will be held the last full week of Hunger Action Month from September 22nd - 28th, and we are looking for participants to add to our growing list!

There is no cost up front for restaurants to join, each choosing the way they'd like to participate throughout the week such as:

👉Matching round up donations made at the register
👉Offering special deals or incentives for customers who donate
👉Donating a percentage of their sales
👉Creating a specialty menu item or featured drink

Today is an exciting day for the Kansas Food Bank, as we celebrated the ribbon cutting of our Western Kansas Hub in Garden City.

The expansion has been a long-time dream of ours, and it's incredibly exciting to see it come to fruition. The addition of the facility will increase food distribution in the 31 westernmost Kansas counties by 50% and double fresh produce distribution.

This project would not have been made a reality without the generous support from our partners at Sunflower Foundation, The Sunderland Foundation, Kansas Health Foundation, Cargill, and more.

Every summer, there are about two weeks after federal summer feeding programs end and school begins. Filling the Gap helps provide those kids in Wichita with easy to open and eat food each week.

This year's distributions will be held on Monday, July 29th and Monday, August 5th. Please note that the first distribution will have three pickup locations, and all five sites will distribute on August 5th.

Here's what you need to know:

Our 5th Saturday fresh produce distribution is about to begin at HealthCore Clinic in Wichita at 9 AM until about 10 AM or while supplies last. 🍊🥦

Anyone in need of assistance can attend the distribution. It is a walk up distribution, so we recommend bringing a box, bag or wagon to carry the produce if you’re able.
