Foster Grandparent Friday! Grandma Maria Ortega is one of our new Foster Grandparents! She spent the last month of school serving at St. Patrick’s in the first grade. Grandma Maria loves to play and talk with her students. If you drive by the school during recess, you might even catch her playing soccer during recess! Grandma Maria says “it is a very good and sweet experience [being a Foster Grandparent] because you know you can help kids!”

Our volunteer coordinator, Tiffany, recently attended the Community Engagement Fair at KansasCOM. This fair was a collaborative space for other local non-profits to showcase their mission and share their volunteer opportunities with the medical students. KansasCOM medical students often volunteer at Catholic Charities as a group or individuals. We are excited to partner with them again this year to offer their students volunteer opportunities within our ministries. Their med students are amazing volunteers for Catholic Charities!

We couldn’t ask for a better way to start our day than having the Chicken N Pickle group volunteer today! They eagerly cleaned the community rooms, sorted donations and assisted our facilities team in landscape cleanup at Harbor House. This is the third year in a row that we’ve partnered with them for their community give back. We’re looking forward to working with them for many more years! If your organization would like to volunteer at Catholic Charities, please contact Tiffany at [email protected] or 316-264-8344 ext. 1261.
