Amanda P. Dir. of Ops and Chef Amanda W. finished their Thursday work day learning about the complex issue of homelessness and the quest our governing officials of Sedgwick County and the City of Wichita are on to end homelessness.
This work was displayed at the Tallgrass Film Festival through the documentary โ€œHope in the Heartlandโ€, a film venture by Project HOPE and the City of Wichita. This is an incredibly insightful watch for anyone in our community wanting learn about the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness and the organization working together in our community.

From our Executive Director, Stephanie Bahre Merritt
"I would personally like to thank Musically Fed for reaching out to us for an amazing team effort on this food rescue last night from the Jelly Roll concert at INTRUST Bank Arena. Musically Fed works with artists, promoters, management and venues nationwide to donate unused backstage meals. We were honored to help them facilitate this rescue.
๐Ÿ“ฃA huge S/O to Jelly Roll...your commitment to serve the communities where you perform sets you above the rest. This food surplus was donated with dignity...it was so beautifully packaged...you Sir Jelly Roll are top notch. Your donation went to Wichita Fellowship Club, Inc. where their mission is to provide a โ€œsoberโ€ alcohol and drug-free house and other facilities for living and recreation for those persons addicted to alcohol and desiring to change their lives and become sober. It was my privilege to go on this rescue by myself as I consider Wichita Fellowship Club neighbors and friends.

ICT Food Rescue Background

ICT Food Rescue began when founder Stephanie Merritt returned to college at the age of 46. The courses that she took to obtain her degree at Wichita State University along with a job where food surplus was thrown out every day inspired her to find a way to make a change. Merritt started small, just rescuing food surplus whenever she could. She found out that if she were to form a nonprofit organization the sky would be the limit. In February 2016, ICT Food Rescue (formerly known as Wichita Area Coalition for Kindness) came to life.

We provide logistical support to save surplus food from stores, restaurants, and individuals. Our Mission is to distribute unavoidable food surplus, sharing with the food insecure of Wichita. We coordinate food โ€œrunnersโ€(volunteers) who transport donated surplus to receiving non-profits. We are also an advocate for reducing food waste and bringing attention to food insecurity in the Wichita area.

From 2016 to 2020 ICT Food Rescue has come a long way. In March of 2018 ICT Food Rescue started using the app FOOD RESCUE US. This app makes it easy for volunteers to pick food up and rescue it on their own time, allowing more of the Wichita community to help out. Thanks to all the donors, volunteers, and receiving agencies ICT Food Rescue saved 242,285 meals from the landfills. #feedpeoplenotlandfills
