Chief is very shy at first but he’s also the sweetest, goofiest guy once he gets to know you! It can take him awhile to feel comfortable in new environments, so he will need a patient adopter to help him transition.

In his current foster home he is playful with other dogs (big and small), loves to play with toys, chase a ball, chew on a good bone, and have zoomies in the yard.

He is also cat and kid friendly, although older kids (7 and up probably) would be best as he can get excitable at times and forget his size, and his strong tail wags can catch younger kids off guard.

He is potty-trained, kennel trained, has learned to use a dog door and go up and down stairs, and is picking up on basic commands well. He has great manners overall, and is eager to please. Leash training is still a work in progress as he overcomes his fear of new places and becomes more walkable.

Due to his timid ways, he needs a confident, friendly dog companion in the home to show him the ropes and a fenced in yard due to flight risk. When he is not busy playing, Chief enjoys snuggling close to his humans, and napping on a comfy bed or couch. He’s a good boy, looking for a forever home to call his! ❤️

Marshall was a parvo puppy we saved a few years ago! He was adopted but needs to come back to our care. Please apply if you can provide this handsome guy a foster or forever home!

Meet Marshall, a 4-year-old, lovable, 80lb lap dog with a heart as big as his head! Marshall is the ultimate adventure buddy— he loves feeling the wind in his face during car rides, swimming in any body of water, and exploring backcountry roads. Though he's not the best on a leash, his playful spirit and love for the outdoors make him an ideal companion for someone with lots of land or a fenced yard.

Marshall is super cuddly and sweet, always ready to snuggle up after a day of exploring. He may do best in a home where he is the only dog, as he's had some conflicts with new dogs before. However, he has done well with the resident dog he grew up with.

He is afraid of sudden loud noises such as thunder, fireworks, and certain tools, so he would thrive in a quieter home without small children.

Despite his fears, Marshall is very self-aware and knows when to seek out a quiet space to calm himself.

Fosters within Kansas (particularly near our Wichita vets and events) are especially needed but adopters from out of state are also welcome to apply. We have numerous returns and boarding dogs needing placement!

This sweet, friendly, well behaved boy is in boarding and we'd love to find a foster to learn more about him!

Tripp has natural manners and is a quick learner. He is described as affectionate and sweet. He is dog friendly and passed initial cat testing! He is also kid friendly! 😍 Tripp loves the water and keeps a clean kennel.

💙Foster or Adopt Charlie💙

Charlie is a super smart and handsome boy. He knows several commands including quite a few cute tricks. He is a energetic boy who likes to be mentally challenged through continued training. Charlie needs a low traffic home without a lot of new visitors because he can be protective of the home. He is potty trained and kennel trained but could easily free roam in the home. He lived with another dog as well before coming to the rescue, and loved him very much, although he can be pushy with some dogs. Charlie can be somewhat impulsive but he has continued to work very hard on impulse control through specialized training at Family Dog Training and Behavioral Center. He needs a strong leader to show him love, trust, and who is committed to continue keeping him mentally challenged. Charlie may not immediately be everybody's friend who wants to visit with him, but he will be his adopter’s best friend.

Charlie will need a 6' fence in his adopter's home.

Our boarding remains FULL! We receive dozens of pleas for help every day from shelter euth lists, to citizens reporting stray or abandoned animals, and owners wanting to surrender their pets, but without boarding space to put new animals AND fosters to take them once ready, we are extremely limited in what we can say yes to. Having open kennels in boarding is the first obstacle and to do that, we need more fosters and adopters! Please join us!

Your foster care helps us match dogs with the perfect forever families! You provide the love, care, and guidance (with access to our trainer and foster network); we provide the rest! It's not always easy, but it's always worth it to see a dog get their second chance!

We have dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities, including those good with other pets or those best as solo companions.

Fosters must reside in Kansas preferably within manageable driving distance to our Wichita vets, events and trainers but adopters can be from out of state if you are willing to travel!

‼️ 5 SWEET BABIES JUST SURRENDERED TO OVERCROWDED SHELTER 💔‼️

The shelter was already full placing precious lives at extreme risk; now 5 MORE puppies have been surrendered and the tiny shelter is AT CAPACITY! 😩💔 Dogs will be euthanized soon unless help can be found!! Saving ANY dog buys more time for the others!

These babies are Lab mixes estimated at 3-4 months old. It is said they do pretty good using the outside part of their runs for potty training and are just the sweetest babies!! All of them were given a DAPP vaccine, dewormer, and flea treatment today.

Ace is a bundle of love and energy and is always ready to party! He is kennel trained, knows sit, shake, and leave it. He is older-kid and dog friendly. Love LOVES toys and needs direction when it is time to put them away. He is a little too interested in kitties in his foster home.

❤️Adopt Handsome Hayes❤️

Hayes was rescued last summer, emaciated, covered in ticks, and feet full of foxtails causing painful sores. Sadly, that wasn't all as we quickly learned he was also heartworm positive. That's all behind him now and he is ready to be adopted!

He is a very good boy in the house (no accidents). He is friendly with adults, children and elderly. He is dog friendly but still needs cues regarding boundaries - he thinks every dog is already a friend and wants to play.

Hayes loves snuggles with his people and is quite a nester. He knows what type of bed sounds good and he will take it to the place he wants to lay. I’ve seen him move around dog beds, pillows and blankets to suit his mood. He is completely kennel trained and keeps his kennel clean all night. He will go to his kennel without complaint whenever given the command. Speaking of commands…Hayes knows sit, wait, leave it, kennel, load up, go lay down, get a toy, eat, outside, come inside and speak. We are working on his leash walking and his front door manners (barking).

Hayes does not try to jump the 4 foot chain link fence and doesn’t door dash. He has not shown any signs of food, toy or treat reactivity. He lives and plays with the resident 4 year old female staffy pit. No kitties for Hayes!

‼️HALO RUNNING OUT OF TIME FAST ⏳⌛️‼️

Poor Halo has been in the shelter since November 2023 with no interest and is now OUT OF TIME! 😞 She has been scheduled for euth 9/6/24 and only has 1 WEEK left to find a loving family to save her!

Halo is the sweetest girl once you earn her trust and make it into her inner circle, but can take time to warm up to new people. Halo plays well with the big dogs at the shelter but plays a little too rough for the small dogs. She will sit, loves to go on rides and loves to go on walks! Halo really just needs someone willing to give her a chance, show her she can trust them, and help her work through her fears.

The shelter is filling up fast again and these girls are running out of time! ⌛️ Failed by humans, they have ended up at the shelter and could soon lose their lives through no fault of their own.

Mazie, the brindle greyhound mix, needs a home with a fenced in yard to run off some of her energy. She also has some separation anxiety and needs to be kenneled in a sturdy kennel when nobody is home.

Carly (Previously Snoopy) was picked up running stray and her owner chose to leave her there. We are guessing she is a fence jumper (4 foot fence), but to be honest any dog her size can jump a 4 foot fence if they choose.

💖Boarding Dog Cheyenne Looking for Foster or Forever Home💖

Cheyenne was returned to our care a couple months ago and is in boarding! She would LOVE to find a home again!

Cheyenne is a loyal, goofy, sweet, and very smart drama queen who will give you an earful at the end of a long day and be your very best friend. She is a Husky/German Shepherd/Akita (among many other breeds), and thus would be best paired with a firm and experienced dog owner who will be a strong leader for her.

Though she can be social and enjoys the company of other dogs, Cheyenne may be best be suited in a single-dog home. She needs a strong leader around other dogs. She does attend doggy daycare and is playful with other dogs, but without guidance and boundaries from a strong leader, conflicts can arise.

She loves her humans fiercely, especially men. She has not lived with children, but tends to knock small ones over as she gets very excited and just wants to love them. She has not been around cats.

In her free time, Cheyenne likes to nap in the sun, go on walks, eat her veggies and talk back. She will be your best friend and snuggle buddy if you give her the chance.

‼️BLANCHARD ANIMAL SHELTER OVER CAPACITY - ADOPTERS/FOSTERS NEEDED‼️

The small town Blanchard animal shelter is over capacity and really needs help with sharing the adoptable dogs there so they can find an adoptive home or foster. The shelter does allow fostering and has rescue help that will pull dogs with a committed foster (OK Residents). Most rescues supply everything needed for the foster dog too!

If dogs are not moved soon it will be a sad situation for the little shelter as they only have 13 kennels for space and cannot house much more animals than that. They currently have around 15-17 dogs in currently 😕.

Adoption fees for dogs are $65 and that includes their spay/neuter and vaccinations. Ziggy, Gideon, and Hugo are most in need, moving any dog will also help these 3 though!
