This is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in my life. If you've sat in my chair you've probably heard me talk about my dear friend Pam of 10 years.
I got a phone call, while at salon that my best friend had gone through cardiac arrest in the ICU and they weren't sure how much time she had left and I needed to get there as soon as I could. I felt my heart sink into my stomach and time stopped. Pam, who's been like a sister to me, I had just spoken to on the phone 2 days prior to this for over an hour.
She was with me when she got that phone call about a biopsy. Metastatic breast cancer. She didn't let many people know, she wanted a normal life, to be treated and spoken to like she was not sick because God damn she was determined to heal herself from the inside out from this. She was not cancer and cancer would not take her.
We met when my only and her oldest went to kindergarten together and the rest of our relationship followed suit. We became closer and our bond became rock solid. Every Friday night I'd go to her home when she moved from woodridge to Plainfield to have cheese and wine, even at first when she became sick. I went to cut her hair, I shaved all of her hair off when it started falling out, she brought me groceries when I was struggling, she picked up my son, we showed up for each other with so much love and care I truly believe she was a soul mate of mine.
We meet certain people in this lifetime that we will automatically know are meant for us. She was my person. Her kids became my kids.
The last four years of her life were difficult but very telling of her strength. She taught me a lot about her, myself, deep friendship and what the heart is truly made of. The amount of love, compassion, self reflection and empathy she had the ability to hold space for was beyond what I could try to explain with words. What made her human is what also made her beyond human. She, her love, sisterhood and friendship will forever remain in my heart.
I love her and miss her everyday.

Giving her Eulogy at her funeral was hard.
Watching her young children in pain and lose their mother is hard.
Losing physical connection with my safe loving person is hard.
Losing daily texts and conversation about everything is hard.
Showing up to do minimal daily activities is hard.

Tell the people you love, that you love them everyday.

I spent her last evening from 7pm to 1am by her side in the ICU holding her hand, kissing her forehead telling her how much I love her.

Clients- please bear with me while I process this major loss and change in my life. If I need to reschedule your appointment or put you with another trusted stylist I will contact you.

SAPPY APPRECIATION POST
Katelyn has been my own hairdresser for quite a few years, and I've been her's. We exchange day off energy or a 5 minute break to take care of each other's well being as often as we can between taking care of clients, because let's be honest, your hair being done makes you feel like the bitch is back.
Katelyn and I have known and worked with each other for 10+ years but who's counting. My coffee bringing, art loving, good listener, hugger, can't be serious or don't want to be for more than two minutes friend that helps keep my spirits in a good place or lets me just be where I am in the moment. I love you.
We undervalue platonic relationships full of connection, intimacy and compassion. Tell people you love you love them. ❤️

To my dear clients:

An update to my service prices effective September 1st.
If you're a newer client to my chair listed is more information about me you may or may not know 😄

I'm celebrating 18 years of professional hairdressing, 7 years running my own business and 20 years total in salon world.
Yep, at the tender age of 15, I started at Mario tricoci as a shampoo girl. While I had this job on weekends, where it got really exciting was my junior and senior year of highschool.
Bused off halfway through my regularly scheduled program to attend beauty school graduating with my license that summer.

Previous milestones and experiences that mean a lot to me and taught me a whole lot as a leader and a learner.

1) Management to 3 salons starting at age 18.
2) Mentor/teacher to 7 interns/assistants.
3) Countless continuing education hours on business, customer service and up to date trends for hair.

My dedication through the years to people and the arts has impacted my life in the most wonderful ways and I hope to continue making you feel like the most beautiful version of you.

XO - Lauren

For your next appointment:
As of today, we're back to masks regardless of political views, opinions and/or vaccine status. Please be kind to small businesses and their owners as we continue making our way through this pandemic.
Please also be prepared with a mask, a disposable would be preferred due to color staining.
As always, thankyou for your patience, understanding and support.
