HOW TO ADVOCATE FOR YOUR KID AT SCHOOL MEETINGS 🏫

As we near the beginning of the school year, we wanted to share some tips to keep in mind when talking with school staff.

FSN™ believes good communication with school staff is partly having a positive attitude and viewing yourself as a partner in the process.

Remember to have confidence in yourself and trust in your ability to make decisions for your child.

Sometimes, it helps to practice what you want to say ahead of time, but remember active listening skills are important too.

What's the hardest part of parent/teacher meetings for you?

Want more tips on how to advocate for your kids at school? Let us help you.

08/25/2024

Why work with us? Here are just a few of the benefits.

Many parents that work with FSN™ have increased knowledge and understanding about the disability or their situation and reduced parental stress, as well as improved outcomes for the children.

08/23/2024

Do any of these describe your family? If so, Family Support Network can help you.

Message us today to find out how. All of our services are free!

August is Medical Alert Month. There are many different reasons one might need a Medical Alert. Having a Medical Alert bracelet can help you if you are a diabetic, have allergies, wish to invoke a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order and so much more. Having one of these bracelets can tell the doctors that are caring for you what they need to know if you’re not able to.

Good communication with school staff is a very important part of advocating for your child.

The way we see it, good communication is partly about having a positive attitude and viewing yourself as a partner in the process.

But it also means...
💬 having confidence in yourself
💬 having the ability to say what you mean
💬 being able to listen to others

What do you think is the hardest part of meeting with school staff?
