Alumni News coming in from a galaxy far, far away! Not long after graduating, Cameron Detig (BA '21 with a dual major in Film Studies and Computer Science with a Digital Art Focus) had the opportunity to work as a previs artist on the recent Star Wars series, Ahsoka, at the renowned visualization studio, The Third Floor. The position involved building sequences in 3D animation to help plan out action, shot choices, and editing to later be used as reference for filming. Previs is similar in intention to storyboarding, but to a far higher degree. Cameron worked on sequences across the series ranging from dialogue scenes to lightsaber duels and space battles. He reports that he learned much from his supervisor and members of the previs team and the notes given by directors, cinematographers, and editors.
To get to work on Star Wars was an amazing experience for Cameron and he remains at The Third Floor working on other exciting projects. Congratulations, Cameron!
