For breastfeeding support, check if you qualify for free visits through The Lactation Network by visiting this link (https://go.lactationnetwork.com/BenderLactationConsulting). These fees may (or may not) be reimbursed through your insurance company depending on your plan. I recommend calling your insurance company with my NPI number, to see at what level they reimburse. Breast-feeding is considered preventative care, which by law is meant to be reimbursed under the Affordable Care Act.

Bender Lactation Consulting hosted this banner for ArtScape 2024! It is located on the downtown mall in Wi******er. I love this piece so much, as a fellow Artist (on the side!) I very much appreciate Karen Winter’s art.
Jelise Ballon is the fiber artist who created this masterpiece on my walls!! Love having local artisans make my space more comfortable (and sound proof!) 😀
Mother to not have to worry about her own nutrition (and their families!) while feeding their baby perfectly? I would have eaten this service up as Postpartum!!!
If you’re a tired new parent looking for a solution to the never-ending question, “What’s for dinner?”, Holistic Home Cookin’ might be the answer to your prayers. I offer healthy meals made in your home, on your designated day of service, according to your specific dietary needs. Food allergies/sensitivities and unique diets are welcome!
I help plan your weekly menus, do the shopping, the cooking, and leave your kitchen sparkling along with a set of custom menu instructions. You’ll get five meals ready to heat, made with your desired level of effort in mind. Want to just pop them in the microwave or oven? No problem! Want to be a little more involved in the kitchen? You can. Too exhausted to be a part of the menu planning? All good! Once I get to know your likes, dislikes, and dietary needs, I can do it on my own. Choose all one category or a combo of breakfast, lunches and dinners. Meals can be made larger or batch style so that you will have plenty of servings to last through the week. Customers of Bender Lactation Consulting
will receive 10% off their first month of service!

To the overwhelmed Mamas out there..
Katie has helped me lose about ten pounds over the last few months. But also given me grace to be an imperfect “me” in the process.
Saluting all the Veterans out there..
Most people know I was in the Navy from 1999-2011. I usually tell people upfront, so they know I’m a bit different. I don’t think like other people. I’m highly empathetic, passionate, still ready to serve. Veterans may come across direct. We may have symptoms of PTSD, sleep deprivation, being a worko’ holic, among other attributes. We are fierce. We are shaped by what was valued in our early work environment, one that required toughness and lacked control. Vets are changed by our experiences, no different than civilians.
It’s hard to be in. It’s hard to to be out, after being in.
But we can, and must, do hard things. It is a cross to bear, forged in fire, and we are better for it. That’s not to say we always “suck it up!”, because mental health sometimes means asking for help.
But I firmly believe it’s better than it used to be, for our predecessors. Especially women. For example, did you know that at many VA facilities, you can get lactation support? It’s true.
Women’s health is better than it used to be at the VA. Evolving, (probably faster than the sad current insurance climate, as it relates to reimbursal of breastfeeding services). Keep going y’all, let’s get better, it’s what is right. Do better when we know better.
We can do it 💪 🇺🇸 🤱

Mama, at the end of the day you don't need to prove anyone w/ a research study that breastfeeding is better.
Just like you don't need a research study to prove that an apple is better for you than a bag of chips.
It’s common sense that providing your baby with milk directly from your breast is best! And you deserve the biggest medal in the world for nourishing your baby w/ your body!
I’m proud of you mama,
For giving your baby the best start in life🤍
It’s one of the most misunderstood and underestimated foods the world!!!
Breastfeeding is one of the most important things you can do to give your baby the very best start in life.
💛 I get it. Breastfeeding can be really hard… both mentally and physically. But look at you go! You’re doing a great job!
💛Despite their efforts, formula companies simply cannot duplicate the amazing benefits of breastmilk. Breastmilk is a living fluid that adapts to your baby’s changing circumstances.
➖Antibodies to protect against illnesses
➖Hormones that promote bonding and regulate appetite
➖Stem cells that may support organ development and repair
➖White blood cells that fight infection
➖Beneficial bacteria that protect your baby’s digestive system
➖Prebiotics called oligosaccharides that support a healthy gut
➖Long-chain fatty acids to help develop your baby’s brain, nervous system and eyes
➖Enzymes to support baby’s digestive and immune systems
➖Nucleotides and hormones that help develop healthy sleep-wake patterns
💛 It is the clinical gold standard for infant feeding and nutrition, with breast milk uniquely tailored to meet the health needs of a growing baby. -CDC
💛 Not only does breastfeeding boost your baby’s physical and mental development, it also protects your own health by reducing your risk of postpartum depression, lowering your risk of breast and ovarian cancer, as well as other diseases.
Moms often wonder if all the struggle is worth it, and it’s important to know that by breastfeeding you are giving your baby the very best… YOU!

All things SLEEP. Also dives into Breastfeeding and Pacifiers
How to Keep Your Sleeping Baby Safe: AAP Policy Explained No one knows exactly what causes SIDS, so there's no guaranteed way to prevent it. However, creating a safe sleep environment can help reduce your baby's risk of SIDS. On the other hand, we do know what causes accidental suffocation and strangulation in bed. This means parents can help prevent the.....

Paci pros and cons.
I remember when I was a baby IBCLC at the hospital in 2013, I got in hot water with the NICU when I sent an educational email dissuading routine use of the pacifier in Mother Baby couplets.
Your baby, if in the NICU, will get a pacifier, and that is for pain control, among other benefits.
With suck training and expert BF support, we can return peristaltic motion of the tongue. Meanwhile— focus on establishing the milk supply in all the ways. And don’t spend too much time thinking about the pacifier. When staff lets you latch the baby, do this and skin to skin, as much as possible.
If you are a uncomplicated Mother Baby duo, try to wait until your ni**le tenderness is gone (or you are confident in the latch) and weight gains are good, before the pacifier is used, if you choose to use one at all.
Blessings

I ALWAYS want fathers at the consultation (if available). My top reasons why:
1. It’s their baby too, and their support means BF is more likely to succeed. This is backed by solid research
2. A second set of ears. Listening is hard when you are tired. I also talk quickly
3. When you are not the one feeding and latching the baby, the visual is much better on positioning. Therefore the positioning (and latch!) can be reproduced easier when Dads can see where the baby needs to be.
Blessings
