Need a quick strength workout that can be done from home? Here is a 6-step strength circuit that can be done virtually anywhere, with no equipment needed!

1) Assisted Bodyweight Squats – 10 reps
Hold onto a sturdy object (such as back of couch), and lower yourself into a squat, keeping chest up and weight in back of heels.

2) Wall or knee pushups – 10 reps

3) Dumbbell Rows (use a milk jug or other weight) – 10 per arm
Place one arm on countertop or back of couch and hinge at the hips. With weight or milk jug in other hand, pull elbow up and back. Avoid twisting.

4) Knee Planks
On forearms, hold a modified plank position (knees on the ground) for as long as you are able to keep good form.

5) Bodyweight Good Mornings
Stand tall with feet hip-width apart, hands beside the ears. Put a slight bend in the knee and pull the shoulder blades back. Hinge at the hips by pushing the hips back and bending at the waist (like you are shutting a car door with your backside!).

6) Walking Jacks – 10 per side (20 total)
Similar to a Jumping Jack, but instead of jumping, simply step out side to side while raising arms overhead

Once you finish all the exercises in the circuit, try for a second round. Still have energy? Go for a third!

What’s for Dinner? Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps.

A quick (less than 30 minutes), easy, and healthy dinner that tastes delicious! Gluten and dairy-free!

How to make Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps
To make the sauce you will need:

▢3 TBS soy sauce*
▢3 TBS hoisin sauce**
▢1 TBS sesame oil
▢1 TBS rice vinegar
▢1 TBS peanut butter
▢1 TBS honey
▢2 tsp sweet chili sauce
▢½ tsp garlic powder
▢¼ tsp powdered ginger

• The first step in this lettuce wrap recipe is making the sauce. The sauce is the key to the flavor of this recipe.

• It’s really simple to make! Just whisk all the ingredients together until well combined. If you use a thicker peanut butter that is solid at room temperature, you may need to warm the peanut butter for 30-60 seconds in order to melt it and ensure everything is well-mixed.

To make the Lettuce Wrap Filling

▢1 lb ground chicken
▢1 TBS peanut oil
▢½ onion minced
▢1 cup red or green pepper diced
▢1 8 oz can water chestnuts drained and minced

• Brown the ground chicken! This recipe is very straightforward! There is, however, one very important step and that is to brown the ground chicken. Making sure the chicken is nice and crispy and brown is essential to the overall flavor and texture of this dish!

• Use a Wok, Sauté pan, or a cast iron skillet. For traditional Asian recipes I love pulling out my wok. But, a regular sauté pan or cast iron skillet works perfectly!

• Dice the vegetables very small. This is one of the keys to making sure every bite is bursting with both texture and flavor! Sometimes I even let my food processor do the chopping for me! Once the ground chicken is cooked add the vegetables and cook about 5 minutes or until peppers are becoming soft.

• Add sauce and simmer on low heat until the chicken and veggies are evenly coated and everything is heated through.

• Serve in lettuce leaves, on top of your favorite Asian salad, or over noodles or rice!

To serve
▢¼ cup peanuts crushed.

As you continue your health journey, you are likely cutting back, if not completely avoiding, alcohol this holiday season. Here are 4 simple tips to help with this:
• Remember your why. Focus on all of the reasons why you are working towards your goals, and how abstaining from alcohol supports them.
• Enjoy your own yummy, festive beverage like this Hot Mulled Cider Mocktail: https://www.bariatricfoodie.com/friday-mocktail-hot-mulled-cider/
• Buddy up! It can help to not be the only one at a party not drinking.
• Plan your response. Knowing exactly what you are going to say when offered a drink can help. You can simply say, “No thank you, I’m not drinking tonight”. Remember, there is no further explanation needed.
