Parents
You must let your child be coached. You must let your child be corrected. You must remove your feelings as a parent to see the bigger picture. Your child must learn how to respond to coaches outside of your own teachings at home. If a coach loves your child enough to correct their behavior, you should be very appreciative of that. Many coaches are being talked back to or shown negative behavior because you first allow your child to do so with yourself at home. This is not ok! Please allow them to work through any negative emotion they may be experiencing without you running to their becken call. Two things a child will do---> They will use your behavior towards them as a stepping stool to be rebellious towards you and their coaches or as a crutch to cry and pout with you and their coaches. Sports does not only build character, it also reveals character. Allow these coaches to step in and coach your child even if it means coaching them hard. If you get upset because a coach is correcting or getting onto your child, you should change that and be upset when they are not saying anything to them. Your child may break now, but I assure you that they will be tougher later in life.

Softball requires practice and a lot of it.

Why did I devote my life to softball? Here’s why👇🏼 Because here’s the thing, if you don’t have a clear why, you will end up wanting to quit. Your why and passion is what gets you through the long & boring days & the not so glamorous process people don’t see.

My why:

I love the game.
I love the feeling of being part of the team, of playing for the name on the front of my jersey and not the back.
I love to compete against others and test myself.
I love to take risks and accept a challenge.
I love to push my body as hard as I can and feel the sweat drip off my face.
I love the process and the feeling of satisfaction that comes from working toward goals, both individual and collective.
I want to make my family proud of me.
Because I can! My mother and grandmother never had the opportunity that I have.
Playing helps me both build confidence and overcome the fear of failure.
