TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT! - Amanda aka A.C.
AC joined our Animal Clinic of Windermere team in November 2021, almost three years ago! Her favorite aspect of veterinary medicine is caring for geriatric pets and ensuring they have the most comfortable life possible. When she's not at work, you can find AC enjoying the theme parks around Orlando. You'd never guess that AC loves all things Halloween—spooky and dark—and would be a paranormal investigator if she weren't pursuing a career as a Certified Veterinary Technician. We're so proud to be part of AC's journey through CVT school and appreciate the value she brings to our team!
Today is Take Your Cat to the Vet Day!
Schedule a check-up with us to keep your cat happy and healthy!😻

Luna is a great example of why veterinary oral care must be done under anesthesia. To the naked eye, her teeth look clean and healthy. However, on x-ray, you can see significant resorptive lesions which are known to cause pain and discomfort.
Teddy had his pre-surgical appointment with Dr. Anderson to prepare for his neutering procedure! This meeting is essential to ensure everything goes smoothly with the surgery and recovery. During this visit, you’ll discuss any questions or concerns with the surgeon, review the procedure’s risks and benefits, and undergo necessary tests, including labs and cardiac evaluations. You’ll also receive detailed instructions on how to prepare for the surgery day.
Sabrina previously consulted with us about a chronic digestive issue. Through a special recommended diet and the incorporation of probiotics, she has successfully discontinued all medications!!
What a difference 4 weeks make!! Bilbo is growing up and has completed his Puppy Wellness Series 👏👏
On National Check the Chip Day, we're sharing a few important reminders on the importance of microchips - such as:
➡ 1 in 3 family pets will get lost
➡ Microchipped dogs are more than twice as likely to be returned to their owners and microchipped cats are more than 20 times as likely to be returned to their owners
And remember - while microchips greatly increase the chances that pets will be reunited with their families if they are lost or stolen…a microchip only works if its registration information is accurate.

When all else fails, don't be afraid to administer your pet's medications directly in the mouth. Simply follow these steps!
1. While holding the medicine with your dominant hand, gently grasp your dog's muzzle from above. Place your fingers behind the canine teeth on either side of the upper jaw.
2. Once you have a firm but gentle grip, tilt your dog's head toward the ceiling. Quickly place the pill as far back over the tongue as possible. Your dog is more likely to swallow the pill if you place it beyond the hump of the tongue at the back of the mouth. Try not to place your hand or fingers too far back in the mouth, as this may stimulate a gag reflex.
3. Close your dog's mouth and gently rub their throat or blow lightly on their nose. This should stimulate swallowing. A dog will usually lick his nose after swallowing a pill so look for that!
4. Always finish with lots of praise and kisses!!!
Appointments for our Stuffy Repair Clinic are now open!! Your kids will get the unique opportunity to dress up, scrub in, and assist the doctor in repairing their own stuffy patient!! We expect appointments will book up fast so call early!!
Pepper is ready for Day Care at The Lodge! Shoutout to all the kiddos going back to school today!
We're seeing an increase in heartworm positive cases! Remember it only takes one infected mosquito for the cycle to begin. Our doctors and the American Heartworm Society recommend keeping your pet on heartworm prevention all year long!!
**Look closely above the microscope pointer, you'll see a "baby heartworm" (microfilaria) moving around. This is a heartworm positive patient's blood sample**
Little Vinny's parents rushed him in to our hospital because he started vomiting. An X-ray revealed a significant foreign object within the stomach. Dr. Cooper took him to surgery right away and a substantial piece of chew was successfully extracted!!
