Let the sparks fly this 4th of July with some sensory fun!✨ Shaving cream fireworks art is an exciting activity for kids of any age, and a cool keepsake for the summer.

What you'll need:
🎇 Shaving cream
🎇 Red and blue paint or food coloring
🎇 Toothpicks
🎇 Paper
🎇 Baking sheet
🎇 Cardboard

What to do:
1. Fill the baking sheet with shaving cream.
2. Use the cardboard to smooth out the shaving cream, making it level.
3. Drop in red and blue paint dots all over the shaving cream.
4. Use a toothpick and start in the center of each dot, drawing straight out, like sun rays.
5. Explore adding the opposite color to each dot, and repeat for a cool two-tone effect.
6. Once finished, lay a sheet of paper on the shaving cream. Pat gently to make a print. Let the paper sit for a minute and watch as the paint soaks through.
7. Gently peel the paper off the shaving cream.
8. Scrape off any excess shaving cream from the paper using a clean piece of cardboard.

Our Preschool & Pre-K classes will explore creativity, love, and gratitude as they read this month's Character Counts book, "Tilly's Staycation" by Gillian Hibbs. 📚

Tilly craves adventure and is eager to go on vacation anywhere! 🧳🚘 All her friends are off exploring the world, but her mom reassures her that there are exciting adventures right there in their own hometown.

Our Toddler class in Boiling Springs, SC conducted a science experiment comparing solids vs. liquids. 🧪👩🏽‍🔬

Students took packing peanuts made of corn starch and felt them as a solid. Then, they watched them “melt” or dissolve into a liquid by adding water. They felt them again as a liquid and compared the textures.

This is a great steam activity to try with your kids at home! 🔬

The Pre-K class of Foundations in Winston-Salem, NC at 7th St. published their first book! 📖✨

Students were excited about this project as they wrote about what they learned this year and what they want to be when they grow up.👮🏽‍♀️👩🏾‍🍳👨🏼‍🔧👩🏽‍🎨 They celebrated their publication during their Pre-K graduation party.

In this month's Character Counts program📚, our Infants & Toddlers are reading "Pouch!" by David Ezra Stein.

Children will learn about self-regulation and what it means to be a friend as they read the adventures of a baby joey. 🦘 The joey is unsure when he first encounters other animals, hopping back to his mama's pouch whenever he gets scared.

Our Toddler and Step Up classes in Simpsonville, SC have been working on their fine motor skills! Ripping paper and molding playdough are easy ways to get those fine motor skills working. 💪🏼

Kicking back with dad on Father's Day? Make it extra special with a fun "pigskin in a blanket" snack! 🌭🏈

Ingredients:

🌭 2 - 8 oz. tubes of crescent rolls
🌭 24 mini hot dogs
🌭 Egg wash
🌭 1 tsp. black pepper
🌭 1 tsp. coarse salt
🌭 Yellow mustard
🌭 Ketchup for dipping

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375º.
2. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. Slice crescent rolls lengthwise into thirds. Place a mini hot dog on the thick end of each triangle and roll up.
4. Arrange in a football shape, side by side, on the baking sheet. They should be touching.
5. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the crescents are golden.
7. Draw lines with yellow mustard to mimic the laces of a football.
8. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve with ketchup and mustard for dipping.

Students will read about a boy who takes advantage of the borrowing system at a local bicycle garage 🚲 and breaks the rules. They will talk about how to handle situations when they see someone who isn't doing the right thing.
