Thursdays are always busy for Anchor Coffee. The roasting room is typically in full swing, coffee deliveries usually arrive on Thursday, packaging and shipping is an all day affair. All in all it’s just plain busy.
In the midst of that, there are amazing coffees on bar at both of our locations, and the smell of roasted coffee will be filling the air outside..
Come see us, support us, and learn about the story of coffee and about our community we’ve been building!

To prepare, our North Wilkes location is running take away only today(Sunday 4/21) so that we can get our space broken down and organized for our install later this week. (Also giving the floors and back bar a deep clean while we’ve got the time!)

Coffee is more than just a sweet latte crafted by your local barista, it is the shared labor of many hands who’s livelihood and passion is wrapped up in this beautiful fruit(yes coffee is a fruit).
Just like the slogan we often see in the states “no farms, no food”, coffee is inextricably linked with agriculture. In fact, coffee production accounts for nearly 1.2 million jobs in Central America alone, mostly on small scale coffee farms and washing stations.
Much like other agricultural industries that are found in the Global South, things such as fluctuating prices, climate change, and general unrest directly affects whether or not many of these small farms can survive.
Supporting your local coffee roasters is just one of many ways in which you can ensure that the story of coffee can live on.
Over the next few weeks we will be exploring more stories of coffee farms that we have worked with in the past, as well as ideas on how we as a company, and the industry at large can protect this vital piece of the global economy in ways that are equitable across the entire value chain.

It’s easy to forget that coffee comes from a tree. Every bean is meticulously harvested, processed, and milled, all before we have the opportunity to roast and serve.
