Carol Maurin Photography
Winston Salem, NC "Whether executives, families, children, or pets a photo session is an amazing experience I look forward to with excitement.
When children revisit early pictures of their family I want them to be able to see the joy in their parents' faces. And when parents look at those same images years later, I want them to be able to see the promise of what their children have become." Carol's privately commissioned black and white portraits are hand-printed in the darkroom from negatives on beautiful fibre-based paper. In contrast
When people see Pit bulls, they often have a negative reaction. Fostering pits has changed my perception. I didn’t know just how sweet they are. They are smart. They are loyal. They are affectionate…oh, so affectionate. They are not inherently bad dogs. Bad people have done that. Currently, AARF has two that are up for adoption. If you want a sweet, smart, young adult, good-looking, playful dog, here they are. Visit this Saturday, Feb 11th from 11 am to 2 pm. at 302 Thurston St. W-S 27103. Reggie and Buster would just love to give you some kisses.
Welcome Reggie to my foster home. He is the sweetest. Reggie is about 1 ½ yrs old and was found in W-S. He and Herschel romp and run around the backyard having the time of their life. He's about 54 lbs, probably full-grown. He's a very cuddly kind of dude with lots of personality. He'll be at the AARF adoption fair Saturday, Jan 28th from 11am to 2 pm. 302 Thurston St WS 27103. Apply online at aarfws.org
Here’s that big ol' goofy pup you’ve been looking for. He’s beautiful, active, and affectionate. Looking for a running partner? Maverick’s the one. At 9 months old, he’s ready to settle into your lifestyle. Say hi to him this Saturday at the AARF adoption fair at 302 Thurston St W-S 27103 from 11am to 2pm. PLEASE SHARE. Apply online at aarfws.org

My AARF foster, Herschel, fell in love when another AARF foster who came over for their photos. He's the white dog with spots. It was glorious to watch them play. And Herschel slept all afternoon! More information on Herschel is at https://www.aarfws.org/available-dogs
Best security system in town!
It is time for me to introduce my new foster. He is officially up for adoption through AARF. The sweetest American Bulldog mix. Young, 56 lb male who will do anything for a belly rub. He melts my heart when he curls up next to me. He loves my pack but would probably like a younger crew to romp with. His name is Herschel. To apply go to aarfws.org. He's waiting.
This speaks for itself.
Our new guest at the Maurin/Feikema home. Meet Tabor. He was brought into AARF by someone who found him and noticed severe abuse. Thank you for taking the time to rescue him. He's young, quick to learn and pleasant to be around. And very cuddly; always a plus!
Released 6 Monarchs today. They are so majestic. Click to get their full impact. A few stayed around for a photo shoot 😃
When your foster's dog new mom is so grateful for what you did for her new canine family member and bakes cookies to thank you it brightens your day. And they are delicious. The dots are because Layla has spots!
All turned out well and one of them left. Looked like a real fight for a moment.
This beautiful Skipper moth stopped by this morning for a snack. Then this majestic eastern yellow swallowtail. And over the weekend the Common Buckeye. And, of course, a bee enjoying my Common Milkweed. Having a pollinator garden is so much fun.
Please help us find Louie the right home. Here is his story:
Meet Louie! He is a 35 lb. Boxer mix puppy that's full of life and loves to snuggle. He wants more than anything to be a lap dog and your best friend. He is shy at first, but warms up quickly. He is 8 months old now and was originally adopted by a loving family at 8 weeks old, and was diagnosed with mega-esophagus a month later. This means that his esophagus is dilated and paralyzed and can't move food to his stomach. In the beginning he had a hard time getting any nutrition, but he has been fitted with a special chair that he sits in for all his meals. This lets gravity do what his esophagus can't. Other than this he is a normal puppy and is even house trained already!
His current family loves him very much and Lou is good with kids, but 3 small children drop food or toys that he then finds and chews and swallows. This can be dangerous for Lou because anything he eats while not in his chair, he regurgitates and may aspirate. His current family just can no longer keep him safe and he needs a home with no children or older children. He does love other dogs. Under the right circumstances and with the right family he can live a long and happy life and bring someone lots of joy. Please consider giving him the home he deserves. Please share. If you or someone you know is interested in adopting him, go to www.aarfws.org.
Look what I had visit me yesterday on our porch. It was pretty chill so I got some closeups. A Damselfly. They are so cool.
