It’s time for our next monthly menu change! 🍃

If you missed our summer launch post — after much thought and consideration, we decided to focus more on what we do best; 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀: croissants, pain au chocolat, danishes, cinnamon rolls, sticky buns and other staples like these. These menu items are our bread and butter (literally!), and we want to maintain their quality and spend our energy making more of them.

With this, certain menu items will change flavors monthly, and certain others will change every 6 months! Here’s what’s changing today:

Fun fact about the 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮 𝗱𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗼—they were supposed to be a one time thing for our birthday in 2021, but you all loved them so much we’ve kept bringing them back!

If you haven’t tried one yet—they are rich with almond flavor and naturally gluten free. If you like our almond horns, you’ll love these!

This dessert pays homage to our own history. These tartas are representative of the Camino de Santiago which has served as the inspiration for our little bakery since the beginning.

We couldn’t help but dust them with powdered sugar in the shape of the shell (the trail maker along the Camino).

At Camino, one of our core values is authenticity.

We believe that good things take time: our bread and pastries are made fully from scratch - without preservatives - and are truly a labor of love.

Between laminating, shaping, and baking, our croissants take around 20 hours to make. It’s that time taken, care given, and attention to detail that produce those stunning, flaky layers.

And yes, the same process for croissants goes for all our other morning pastries: pain au chocolat, danish, etc.!

Since we opened in July of 2011.

—𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙:
I grew up in the Western most point of NC and got my undergraduate degree from UNC-Asheville. I had an internship with (then Wachovia Bank), now Wells Fargo. I got hired full time and moved to Winston-Salem and stayed with them for the next 20 years.

—𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚?
Play Pickleball! I’m completely addicted to the game and try to play about 4 times a week. I have two rescue boxers that I adore and hope to foster senior boxers down the road. My husband and I also like to go camping (glamping) at the beach several times throughout the year. We especially love going in the fall.

When I got hired as a barista, I had never tasted coffee. I didn’t even know what a latte was. Thank goodness Cary saw something in me to still hire me!

I had worked at a couple of vineyards after leaving the bank and had some wine experience. That’s what got my foot in the door at Camino. I love it and have never looked back.

I love working for a small business that really cares about their employees and sees everyone as an individual. I love that we can make decisions quickly and move forward. The nerdy thing I love about my job is balancing the bank statements. I love the checks and balances, working with the numbers and figuring things out when there’s a discrepancy. Weird, I know!

This coming Wednesday, June 26th is our next Grounds For Giving day!

“𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘎𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨?”

4 times a year we hold Grounds For Giving events to support a particular local non-profit. The non-profit receives 10% of our sales for that day, as well as promotion on our social media to highlight the good work they do.

This coming Wednesday, we’ll be supporting . They work to create change and cultivate a community of care so that people can move with dignity from trauma and homelessness to healing and housing stability.
