Just a reminder to keep your pets inside from 2-4 on April 8th. The eclipse can be very harmful for your pets eyes.

Thank you to all of my clients for your love and support while Alex takes off time to grow her family.
A big thank you to the groomingdales employees for keeping the shop running while Alex gets her new addition settled in.
As most of you know, Alex (owner) will be having her baby boy soon. Groomingdales will be running as normal.
Kaitlynne, Cailyn and Sam will be taking great care of your pups while Alex is gone. In the evenings Alex’s mother, Hada and Husband, Jordan will be checking you out.
Please be patient with all the employees as they do their best to keep things going.
Thank you all for all your love and support !

An Update From Dr. Spindel:
Good Morning!
I wanted to take a moment to give you an update on the Respiratory Illness affecting dogs. The American Veterinary Medical Association is closely monitoring an infection moving across the country. State and national diagnostic laboratories are working to identify the causative pathogen but currently have not been able to. The possible virus has been linked to severe pneumonia and tragically has resulted in some fatalities.
The clinical signs fall into three general categories:
-Chronic bronchitis with a prolonged cough of up to 8 weeks that is not responsive to antibiotics.
-Chronic pneumonia that is minimally or not responsive to antibiotics.
-Acute pneumonia quickly becomes severe and often has a poor outcome in as little as 24 hours.
You should monitor your dog closely for progressive coughing that may be accompanied by ocular or nasal discharge or sneezing. Please call us immediately if those signs develop, particularly if your dog loses its appetite, has trouble breathing, or becomes lethargic. We also strongly urge you to keep your dogs’ vaccines updated. While the existing vaccines may not specifically target this unknown infection, maintaining overall health through routine vaccines can help support your dog’s immune system in combating the various infections. Optimal protection against common respiratory infections includes the annual intranasal Bordatella, Adenovirus and parainfluenza vaccine combined with the bi-valent influenza vaccine. We recommend that you avoid bringing your dog into the community until two weeks after the last dose of the vaccine and immunity has developed.
It is very unlikely that this is contagious to humans but because we have not identified the infectious agent causing this outbreak it is a good idea to thoroughly wash your hands after handling a sick pet.
If you think your dog is exhibiting any signs of Illness, please call.
Sincerely,
Dr. Spindel and the Staff at Animal Ark
