Hello Friends and Family! We hope you had a great holiday time with the people you love and enjoy, and that your 2021 is looking bright!

The team at Urban Flats did an amazing job of taking care of our guests and protecting everyone during a remarkably busy holiday period. Now that it’s over, it is time to give them a little additional R & R. So, we will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, January 5 & 6.

Hopefully, this will not inconvenience any of our guests as this is a much-needed break for the team. We will reopen on Thursday, refreshed and ready to go!

I want to give you an update on our status. Between Sunday and Monday, our entire staff has been tested. Now we have the arduous ‘wait’ for the results. They tell us 3-5 days, but who knows! However, using that time line, we are targeting a return to serving our community this Friday evening, subject to change, but what isn’t these days?
If all goes according to plan, and we can reopen, things will look a little different, so we do not continue a cycle of opening and closing. Not good for anyone’s well being.
Our plan is to create ‘teams’ that only work together, independent of one another, maybe only a casual crossing of paths. We will have time to ensure a deep clean and ensure, surface contact is not an issue for this virus. Having multiple teams will allow us the flexibility should someone test positive in the future, to isolate that person or team, but continue to operate with the other team(s).
Our hours will probably change slightly to allow this shift in staffing, and ensure we continue to provide the necessary cleaning and safety protocols, plus the level of service and quality you have come to expect.

At Urban Flats, the health and safety of our guests and employees is our number one concern. We have proactively set up responsible processes to ensure all employees coming to work are not exhibiting any signs of the coronavirus including formal training through the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association and symptom self-assessment and temperature taking of employees upon arrival to work. Additionally, all employees are required to wear face coverings at all times. Thru this protocol an employee self-identified on Sunday, June 21, as not feeling well even though they did not have elevated temperature and was immediately sent home. This employee has since informed us that they tested positive for the coronavirus, even though they have not exhibited further symptoms. Out of abundance of caution, we have decided to close the restaurant, even though this employee was wearing a mask at all times while working. We will only reopen when it is safe to do so, when all employees have been tested and an additional deep cleaning has been performed. We realize this is an inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and loyalty to Urban Flats. We look forward to seeing you all again soon! Stay connected with us through our page.

Since the Orange County Mayor issued Mandatory mask for guest and staff (which the staff part we’ve been doing since we were allowed to open to in dining) we have been confronted by a few that took exception to us following the guidelines. Including today, one guest said ‘F U’ to our bartender, which is why I am posting this message. We have all seen the recent spike in cases, and we want to ensure we do our part to keep YOU safe, as well as OUR TEAM! So, if you don’t want to wear a mask, that’s your prerogative, but ours is one of safety, so we will not allow you to enter. You may order takeout, from your car, and we will happily bring it out to you. Don’t attempt to come inside, and don’t attack our staff! That’s not acceptable. We all want the same, getting past this pandemic. Let’s, together, squash this resurgence of cases together! Be safe and smile! Better for the soul! Cheers
