🌟 Magnolia’s First Day at EAWP 🌟

Many of you remember our beloved Mia, the incredible chocolate lab who brought so much joy to our halls. 🐾 Mia spent 2.5 wonderful years helping us raise her little sister Magnolia, and now it’s Magnolia’s turn to shine. 🌸 Though she has some big shoes to fill, we’re confident she’ll be amazing (once she stops stealing Roseline’s desk 😂).

“Mommy, I can see better now”

Piper picked up her first pair of glasses today! After she failed a vision screening at school and her parents noticed her holding objects close, she came to see Dr. Cashon for her first eye exam. Although she was a bit shy and nervous for her exam, she was excited to show off her glasses to Dr. Cashon and her favorite opticians today. Piper warmed all of our hearts when she was overhead saying “Mommy, I can see better now!”

💎Last Wednesday Essilor hosted an all day training for our entire staff.

🔎In the morning we learned about all the latest advancements in lens technology and how to effectively communicate with our patients. In the afternoon we hosted a live workshop where our staff got to observe and give live feedback to our volunteers.

🤗We are so grateful to have a team that is truly dedicated to constant professional growth.

On Wednesday February 1st our office will be closed for staff training. In order to provide the highest quality of care it is important that we take time to learn and grow as a team.

Amanda joined Eye Associates of Winter Park in February 2021. She is currently working toward becoming a licensed optician. As an apprentice Amanda must balance a full time workload and studying for her exams.

🏄 Surfer’s eye:
A pterygium is a fleshy tissue which grows from the conjunctiva into the cornea. This growth can lead to inflammation and unwanted astigmatism leading to distorted vision.

🔪 While this patient’s growth is not blocking the pupil, she still needs surgical removal due to the amount of distortion that is not correctable by glasses.

☀️ Sun protection is the best way to prevent a pterygium. Just like our SPF moisturizer, daily application regardless of our outdoor plans is highly recommended. Add transition lenses and polarized sunglasses to your daily routine, regardless of how long you plan to be outside.
