Mindfulness and meditation are widely recognized as beneficial practices for reducing stress, anxiety, and depression. Apps are an effective and convenient way to learn and practice these skills. Over time, meditation can create lasting changes in the brain, help you improve attention and control over your emotions, and increase body awareness and self-compassion.
A variety of apps on the market offer different guided meditations to help you in a specific area, like stress and anxiety management, pain relief, and sleep. Many apps also offer relaxing music or timers so that you can practice meditation on your own.
If you're new to meditation, Headspace can teach you the basics in their 10-session course for beginners.
They also offer a long list of meditations that range from 3 to 60 minutes long. You can get your first 2 weeks free and then choose from a monthly or annual plan. They are also currently offering free resources to healthcare professionals, educators, and other people who are impacted by the current health crisis.
