She acted quickly, called 911, and stayed by his side the entire time. According to her leader, all her patients are treated with this level of care and clinical excellence. On this snowy, cold Monday, here is some news that will warm your heart! We would like to take a moment to recognize our Care Center for becoming an official Level 4 partner of the program, We Honor Veterans, through the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization!
This is a huge accomplishment for the Care Center and would not be made possible without the dedication and passion for the cause from our Veteran Liaison, Tom. He is a valuable asset to us and many of our veteran patients to whom he lends a unique level of support. And a special thank you to our Volunteer Coordinator, Chantira, for working diligently with Tom to get this recognition!
We appreciate the efforts of our team to get to this point. Veteran patients will always receive the extra needed support and care they deserve, and we are a very proud partner. If you would like to learn more about We Honor Veterans, follow the link below!

Let us introduce you to another one of our dedicated volunteers, Bob! He has been with Compassionate Care for about 2 years now.
When Bob stopped working full time, he was looking for a way to give back to the community. After being in a serious accident that almost left him paralyzed, he was overwhelmed by all the help he received. As soon as he saw an ad in his newspaper, he decided to volunteer with hospice.
To Bob, the most rewarding aspect of volunteering for hopsice is hearing patient's stories and the "mosaic" of their life. He has heard stories form various historical events, and sometimes serves as a confidant for those patients that cannot share thoughts with their own family. Bob originally considered hospice as anticipating one's death. However, he has personally discovered through his companionship, that listening and discussion are important foundations. He ultimately receives mutual, if not more positive feelings than the patients when he is able to visit.
Bob often uses humor and conversation to bond with his patients. He tries to find the common ground such as careers, families, hobbies, or time in the service.
Fun Fact about Bob: He has been to most of, if not all of the National Parks within the areas of Utah, Arizona, and Wyoming. Moab in southern Utah is his favorite!
Thank you Bob, for making all of our patients so happy and spending so much of your time with them, you are greatly appreciated!
Happy Thursday! We would like to share the exciting news that our Woburn Care Center has just achieved Level 3 recognition with the program, We Honor Vets! Thank you to our amazing Volunteer Coordinator, Chantira and our Veteran Liaison, Tom for their hard work and dedication to reach this milestone!

We would lke to recognize one of our newer volunteers...meet Ashley!
Ashley has been with Compassionate Care for a few months, and has already done so much to help us! She just recently graduated from Brandeis University, and has an interest in healthcare. This combined with her desire to help others in the community pointed her to hospice.
To Ashley, the most rewarding aspect of volunteering is being able to create new relationships with different people and learn the importance of listening.
Fun fact about Ashley: This year she had a vitual college graduation!
This month we would like to honor another one of our dedicated Clinical Managers, Kathleen!
Kathleen was with CCH as a liaison/case manager in the past, but has been with us now for a little over a year. She decided to move to hospice after working as a nursing assistant. She went back to school for nursing, and during her psychiatric nursing rotation, her professor introduced hospice. She was fortunate to spend some time in a Hospice House as well as a nursing home.
Kathy's very first nursing job was on the oncology floor of a hospital, and after nine months, her heart was set on the hospice experience. She has been caring for people on hospice since 2009.
Kathy says the most rewarding aspect of her job is knowing that she has the chance to make a positive difference in the lives of those we work with and those we care for. She strives to give her best everyday. Her favorite part of working for with CCH is assisting in a person's end-of-life journey and the opportunity to work alongside some of the most dedicated and caring professionals.
Kathy's tips for working in hospice care are to listen, smile, breathe, and love. Be open to the many wonderful gifts end-of-life can offer and be ready to understand life like you never have before. Keep tissues close by as there will be times you will shed tears, and remain teachable, as there will be always be daily learning opportunities. Lastly, it is okay to ask for help because hospice work includes a team of dedicated, compassionate members willing to assist.
Kathleen's fun fact: She loves to go thrift store shopping!
Thank you Kathy for all you do and the endless support you give to your team and coworkers, we appreciate you tremendously!
