Please share! The Wood River Recreation Center will be offering an After School Program this school year for kids in 1st-8th Grade. There will be bus transportation from Lewis & Clark Elementary, Lewis & Clark Middle School, Eastwood Elementary and East Alton Middle School. Sign up by the day or for the whole week! Wood River firefighter Sydney Bloch helps St. Louis Slam win women's football title Wood River firefighter and paramedic Sydney Bloch wins championship with St. Louis Slam, a professional women's football team.

In coordination with the Village of East Alton and Mayor Darren Carlton, a citizens group approached our City of Wood River to hold a “Coming Home Celebration” for Olympian Jayden Ulrich.

The celebration will be held at the Wood River Rec Center.

A parade of Police and Fire vehicles will es**rt Jayden in a convertible, supplied by Bob Patterson Car Sales, which starts at 10:30 from the parking lot of Pitchford’s Funeral Home.

The parade will go down Hwy 111 to Edwardsville Road to Wood River Avenue to the Rec Center.

At 11:00a the ceremony will start with various speakers.

Mike Young, who has been the voice of EAWR Football games, will emcee the event. Mike and his sister Diane are the spearhead for this and has several businesses to support the event.

Great Rivers & Routes

A boundary will drift southward with additional showers and thunderstorms expected along and south of the boundary this evening into tonight. Severe weather potential overlaps with the heavy rain threat. The severe weather threat is low with localized damaging wind gusts to 60 mph and small hail. The higher impact is expected to result from heavy rainfall that could lead to additional flash flooding. Chances (70-100%) are highest 7 p.m. to Midnight, though a Flash Flood Watch extends through 7 a.m. Wednesday.

A Flood Watch is now in effect for parts of southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois for heavy rain and the threat for flash flooding tonight. Before that, a low threat for damaging wind exists for most of the area. Make sure you have a way to get warnings, and NEVER drive over flooded roads!
