Last night, the Woodbury Public Safety team stopped by over 60 block parties for the annual Night to Unite! 🚓 🚒

Our team loves seeing neighbors connect with each other, because we know neighborhoods are safer when neighbors know each other and look out for one another.

Thank you for opening your (garage) doors to our team! We are grateful to serve a supportive community!

Blue-green algae was discovered in Carver Lake, Monday, Aug. 5. Lake users are advised to avoid contact with the lake until further notice.

Not all blue-green algal blooms produce toxins; however, there is no way to predict if or when a bloom will produce toxins. For this reason, it is best to avoid contact and stay out of the water.
If you believe you or your pets are experiencing adverse health effects due to contact with, or ingestion of, lake water or algae, seek medical attention immediately.

Please note that Carver Lake Beach remains closed until further notice.

More information and resources on blue-green algae can be found at woodburymn.gov/carverlake

We've rescheduled our Fourth of July fireworks to support our amazing community partner event, Woodbury Days! Woodbury Days is a non-profit organization separate from the City of Woodbury. Join us for a spectacular display on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 9:30 p.m. as we come together to celebrate everything that makes our community great. Don't miss out on the fun, food and festivities!

Here are a few lawn watering reminders.

💧 City policy restricts both the day and time that you can water your residential lawn:

📅 Lawn watering is allowed two days per week based on the irrigation zone where your property is located. Use the map below or visit woodburymn.gov/IrrigationZoneMap to determine your watering days.

The policy is in effect year-round, and citations are issued for violations; first-time offenders are not exempt.

The Woodbury Heritage Society has added a "heritage walk" at Valley Creek Park (11500 Valley Creek Road) and they will be hosting a grand reveal on Friday, July 12, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. See Woodbury’s history come to life through stories of Woodbury’s past!

The Grand Reveal of the Interpretative Signage at the Miller Barn/ Valley Creek Heritage Trail at the Valley Creek Park is taking place on 12th July from 3-5pm, co-sponsored by the City of Woodbury.

Remarks by President of the Woodbury Heritage Society Wayne Schilling will be at 3pm.

The installation of the Interpretive Signs comes after years of research to uncover a more collective story of the residents of Woodbury, in which they lived and worked.
Through the use of the educational signage, visitors will learn about those who gave birth to Woodbury & their descendants, crops and dairy production, as well as the creation of schoolhouses & other unique structures, such as the on-site Barn, the work done in Barns & silos, & how the neighbors helped neighbors.

The interpretive signs, which act as a companion guide to patrons, can be seen as part of a self-guided or planned docent-led tour.

We have included QR Codes on the Signs for on-going learning.

The Valley Creek Heritage Park/Trail is open to the public daily.
This is a beautiful parcel of land in our backyard.

Due to the severe weather forecast for July 4, the Fourth of July Hometown Celebration has been canceled. Safety is our top priority, and we want to ensure everyone stays safe during inclement weather. We will announce a rescheduled date soon. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating together once weather conditions improve. Stay safe and stay tuned for further updates!
------------------------------------------------

City staff are working hard to provide a fun community event for the Fourth! 🥳🇺🇸🎆 Below are a few updates to note as we all track the weather.

The Fourth of July festivities will take place rain or shine. The Kids Zone, including bounce houses, will be inside the Field House at M Health Fairview Sports Center. In the event of severe weather (high winds, lightning, etc.), fireworks could be modified or postponed to another date. Any changes to the schedule will be distributed via the city’s website, InTouch email notification system, and social media accounts.

This is one of the largest events in the city and exiting the parking lots after the event is expected to take some time. Our Public Safety team will be on site helping traffic flow out of the lots; please be patient for the safety of everyone attending. If you are walking, be sure to use crosswalks!

More information about the event is available at woodburymn.gov/FourthofJuly

A few reminders about fireworks! 🎆

When celebrating the Fourth of July this summer, remember that it is illegal in Minnesota to sell, possess and use any fireworks that fly or explode. Some examples of illegal fireworks include firecrackers, bottle rockets and Roman candles.

However, certain non-explosive and non-aerial consumer fireworks are permitted. Examples include sparklers; cones and tubes that emit sparks; and novelty items like snakes and party poppers.

For more information, visit the Minnesota Department of Public Safety website at dps.mn.gov.
