Finding your own unique style through thrifting at Goodwill! 👗♻️ That was the theme of our Thrifty Thursday TV segment yesterday at the Goodwill Boutique. All three of these ladies have been shopping at Goodwill for years! Their style is definitely unique and fun. What’s your unique thrifted style?

Meet Ashley! She began her career at Goodwill in Brookings, Oregon. After moving to Red Bluff, she started as a Clerk Processor at the Red Bluff Goodwill on February 13, 2023. Within her first year at Red Bluff, she was promoted to keyholder and then to Assistant Store Manager. Ashley is now the Assistant Store Manager in Redding.

Ashley says, “I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my manager, Tiffany Sanchez, and the Goodwill Mentorship program. Tiffany has taught me to believe in myself and to push myself to succeed. She also shows me how to use my strengths to be a better person and manager. The mentorship program has given me a deeper understanding of what Goodwill does and my role as an Assistant Manager. This has helped me improve my time management, build relationships with my coworkers, deal with workplace conflict, and manage stress. I am grateful that Goodwill takes pride in its employees and wants us to succeed by having leaders who believe in us.”

Meet Erica, our outstanding Workforce Development Assistant Manager at our Redding Job Connection office! Erica has grown immensely over the past few years, consistently exceeding expectations and going above and beyond for her team, community members, and peers.

Under Erica's exceptional leadership, our Redding Mission Services Team has undergone a significant transformation, significantly improving Goodwill's quality of workforce development services. Her dedication and passion are truly inspiring, and we are so grateful to have her on our team!

We are so very proud of Erica's hard work and dedication. She always puts the mission first in everything she does. We are honored to have her on our team. Brenda, our Director of Workforce Development, and Andrea, our Sacramento Workforce Development Manager, are leading the charge in helping individuals overcome barriers to employment through a variety of impactful programs. From our flagship Good U program, offering vocational classes and community workshops, to our inclusive hiring practices, they are dedicated to fostering personal and professional growth in our community.

Meet Tiffany! She began her career at Goodwill on October 20, 2014, as a part-time Clerk Processor. She soon transitioned to People of Progress, where she managed the front end, food bank, clothing, and other community services. In 2015, Tiffany became a key holder for both People of Progress and the Redding Goodwill store. During this period, she played a crucial role in helping Shasta County recover from the Carr, Camp, and Delta fires, as well as the COVID pandemic. This experience reinforced for Tiffany the importance of people feeling safe, supported, and valued.
Tiffany advanced from key holder to Assistant Store Manager, Retail Store Manager in Red Bluff, and now serves as General Store Manager in Redding. She has completed the Mentorship program and acknowledges Goodwill as the only place she has felt genuinely supported by leaders and coworkers, who have encouraged her personal and professional growth. Her goal is to eventually join the Regional teams.
Tiffany uses her life experiences to inspire others, demonstrating that it is possible to overcome barriers and strive to become the best version of oneself. She focuses on ensuring her employees understand that she is there to support their growth and help them achieve their goals, much like Goodwill did for her in 2014 during challenging times.
Erica Vunder, Assistant Workforce Development Program Manager at the Redding store, says:
“When you see Tiffany, you can’t help but smile. It’s incredible to watch her interact with employees and customers. She has a way of making people happy just by being around her. Her personality and laugh are contagious. I have seen firsthand her dedication to her employees as she agonizes over how she can best support them to be successful. Tiffany strives to be the best version of herself so that she can best help everyone around her. She is supportive of her employees and other program participants, making them feel important and doing whatever she can to help them succeed, not only at Goodwill but in life in general.”

Meet Kiera! Kiera faced joblessness, mental health struggles, and transportation issues. Goodwill’s classes helped her gain skills and confidence to move forward on her dream career as an administrative office technician. She advises others to seek resources, have a backup plan, and be patient. Kiera is grateful for Goodwill’s support in helping her get back on track.
