What a perfect fall day over here! I wish it was like this all year round - except for December when it should snow.

It’s therapy Thursday and Dove gets it! It would be so easy to let the hard days win sometimes but it’s just not worth it. When we do that, we’re at risk of becoming depressed and feeling like we can’t win. And that’s no bueno. Keep fighting on those dads because you’re fighting for your mental health 💗

It’s therapy Thursday! Attempted assassination was not on my 2024 bingo card. I don’t like either of our choices and I’m scared for our country either way but what scares me the most is the reactions I keep seeing. As I was scrolling through comments on the attempt, people are saying things like “too bad they missed”. Is this really where we are as a society? We don’t like someone or dislike what they say and our reaction is to hope they’re killed? We’ve become too extreme. Here in the Chicago area, our news reports shootings and killings and most of them are senseless. Some weekends it’s over a 100 usually over some beef or disagreement; sometimes because they have bad aim and kill innocent bystanders. Because these people do not value human life - we’re no better than these gangbangers if we’re cool with what happened Saturday.

It’s therapy Thursday! I was reading an article that said moms of teenager are more stressed and unhappy than moms of toddlers. I remember when my kids were little I would think “it’ll be easier when they’re older” and it most ways it is. But I’ll tell you what is more stressful is the emotional and mental part of it. Am I more stressed and unhappy than I was 10 years ago? Absolutely not. So let’s take a poll - are you more stressed now or when your kids were little?

It’s therapy Thursday! Are all you moms ready for the kids to be out of school? I swear this summer is more hectic than the school year for me. It’s easy to get lost in being the kid Uber driver so make a point to take care of yourself. Go for a coffee alone, meet a friend for lunch, sit outside and tell your kids to go play a game of “leave mom alone” for 30 min. Find ways to catch a breather and don’t let summer run you ragged 😊

It’s therapy Thursday! And maybe you vaguely remember me talking about bullying, let me share with you why. This past semester, we pulled Natalie from public school due to bullying by a male peer and by a teacher. That’s right I said teacher. We felt we had no option except to pull her; her mental health was fading and seeing my strong, confident, snarky kid shrink into herself was devastating. Never thought I’d ever be in this position but not all is lost. She’s back to her usual self, she’s pulled straight As and she has Fridays off. Parents - trust your gut when something isn’t right at your kids school. Tell someone what’s going on. Don’t hesitate to make big changes. All that matters is your kids health and well being 💗

It’s National rescue dog day and you know how much I love rescue pups! We’re lucky to have found Fiona and we were just as lucky with Ginny. They truly know what you did for them and they’ll love you forever 💗

Donation going out the door! The rescue I volunteer with (Wish Upon a Rescue) is having a garage sale today and all proceeds go towards the care of our critters. Hoping these tees bring in some big bucks for them 🤞🏻

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there! Moms, stepmoms, dog moms, cat moms - you’re all doing an amazing job! Hopefully your day entails doing none of the mom things you usually do because you deserve a day off 😉

I have wanted to see the northern lights my whole life. Whenever they say we’ll have a chance, I strike out. Went to western Canada hoping to see them and nothing. Tonight in my own front yard I had the absolute pleasure of seeing them. Bucket list item ✅

On the left is our little Fiona, on the right was our sweet Ginny girl. It’s funny how similar they look but how very different they are in personality! I’m so glad we found her 🌸
