Numbers are in. 84 adults. 156 scouts. 240 total. Over 1,000 service hours performed at “Day of Fire 2024”.
CAST and your professionals rangers do not anticipate the weather impacting The annual “Day of Fire”. Several shifts to choose from.

08:00 – 11:00
11:00 – 1:00
1:00 – 4:00
4:00 – 7:00
A CAAB tradition where scouts burn driftwood for 12 hours the second Saturday in January.
This year the date is January 13th 2024
Scouts can earn three conservation service hours or stay the entire 12 hours.
There are bragging rights for anyone working the entire 12 and a patch for anyone working 3 hours.
We also repurpose Christmas Trees as fish habitats.

What to bring:
Bring food, snacks, a sack lunch and plenty of water.
UoD (uniform of the day) is activity t shirt

Mud boots
Gloves
At the car, scouts can remove muddy jeans and ride home in shorts. Parents should bring garbage bags to put muddy jeans and boots in prior to scout ridding home in car.
Please plan and prepare for the volunteers to be and get muddy.

Jan 13th's DoF Adult LEADS needed: Easily recognizable by their safety vest, each of 6 fires have a lead giving instructions and directions each shift.

Day of Fire January 13th new EVENT Patch. You will want one.
Day of fire! New this year! Each cove, each shift with have a “vest wearing” lead scout or scouter directing activity and answering questions.

CAST needs 2 adults and a few older teens to chip the brush pile at the main flagpole left over from storm ZETA. The camp will look better and it will help with our path to the cub fishing area.
Sign up and help for 4 hours.
CAST will be at the woodruff Conservation Weekend 10-11-12 exhibiting at the midway. Scouts looking for conservation service projects will be able to consider CAAB as a host.
Scouts wishing to work on “fish and wildlife mgt” merit badge get in touch with CAST now as it’s time to plan our fish habitat builds scheduled in January.
