Meow or Never is a TNR (Trap - Neuter - Release) and Community Cat focused organization. They are all volunteer based working to prevent feral cats from being sent to shelters and adopting out those we can be put into homes. They are passionate about outreach programs, promoting low cost spay / neuter, and education. Their core belief is if you see something, DO something.

Since this month is Adopt A Shelter Cat Month, lets discuss spay and neutering!

On average, there are 30 to 40millon feral or community cats in the United States. This does not include any owned cats. Often these cats end up in shelters or are left in the wild. Spay and neutering can help reduce these numbers, while also allowing for a happier healthier cat.

Female cats can have an average of five kittens per litter and five litters per year. That is a lot of kittens! To prevent this, spaying is recommended.

Spaying involves the surgical removal of the ovaries and uterus. This prevents a female cat from getting pregnant and going into a heat cycle. Spaying reduces the risk of cancer, prevents unwanted pregnancies, and helps with population control.

Male cats are able to breed with several females. When males reach puberty between four to six months, they may begin to spray, have increased aggression, and fight with other cats.

Neutering involves the surgical removal of the testicles to sterilize a male cat. This decreases the behavior allowing for a much healthier, happier cat.

Cat Rangers Rescue pulls cats and kittens facing dire situation such as abandonment, neglect, injuries, and overcrowding shelters. They provide shelter, food, and medical care before being adopted out to their furever homes.

They operate from a visitor center in Historic Buford. Their center is cage free and provides a home like environment which allows their kitties to become accustomed to home life and brings out their true self.

Renegade rescue is 100% foster based for cats and dogs. They pull from high kill shelters to help pets find their furever home. They provide food, shelter, and medical treatment as needed. Check them out!

Happy National Donut Day!

Let's talk donuts or better known as cones! Other known names are Elizabenthan collars, e-collars, buster collars, and cone of shame. The purpose of the donut/cone is to stop licking and biting of certain parts of the pet's body. This can also help with overgrooming and scratching at the face. Often, these are used for after surgery or help treat health conditions in combination with other treatment.

Alternatives to the donut / cone are soft or fabric cones, paper plates, and surgical suits. Depends on the kitty's need and their comfort!
