Last week, the Youth Civics Union hosted Youth Summit 2024, tackling the critical issue of Gun Violence.
Our youth sparked essential discussions, shared insights on raising awareness, and encouraged social activism🌟
The event was an important reminder of how we can come together as a community to tackle tough issues.
We had the honor of receiving a visit from Senator Robyn Kennedy, who supports the LEI and is a strong advocate of after-school programs for youth. Huge thanks to her, our mentors, our youth, and the entire community!🙌

A few days ago, our Promotoras de Salud - LEI joined the Teddy Bear Clinic at UMass Memorial. The event helped kids of all ages learn about health and safety through fun and interactive booths. Our Promotoras had a blast teaching children about nutrition and well-being in an engaging way! A fantastic hands-on approach to learning about health care. 🧸🏥

The Latino Education Institute, alongside the Undergraduate Admissions Office and the Presidential Student Ambassadors, hosted over 141 eighth-grade students and faculty from Southbridge Middle School for an engaging day at Worcester State University.
The day was filled with exciting activities, including a BIPOC student panel where the students got to hear firsthand students’ personal journeys, a comprehensive tour of WSU's beautiful campus, and insightful sessions on the admissions process.
This immersive experience proved particularly impactful for many first-generation and BIPOC students, igniting their aspirations for higher education and empowering them to set ambitious future goals.
As the day drew to a close, numerous students expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the LEI staff for providing this invaluable early-college opportunity. Through this experience, they discovered that higher education is not just a distant dream but a tangible and achievable goal.

El Instituto de Educación Latino, junto con la Oficina de Admisiones de Pregrado y los Embajadores Estudiantiles Presidenciales, recibieron a más de 141 estudiantes y profesores de octavo grado de Southbridge Middle School para un día interesante en la Universidad Estatal de Worcester.
El día estuvo lleno de actividades emocionantes, incluido un panel de estudiantes BIPOC donde los estudiantes pudieron escuchar de primera mano sus trayectorias personales, un recorrido completo por el hermoso campus de WSU y sesiones informativas sobre el proceso de admisión.
Esta experiencia inmersiva resultó particularmente impactante para muchos estudiantes de primera generación, encendiendo sus aspiraciones de educación superior y capacitándolos para establecer metas futuras.
