Another great show of support from our community partners! Vizminds is hosting this event for our Garfield students and families.

Today we had graduates from Eisenhower High School, Yakima on-line and Stanton Academy visit our school. It was awesome for our Garfield Greats to see the students who have received their diploma!

Today our 3rd grade Garfield Greats started the SBA testing so our awesome staff created these messages for the kids to see when they got to school this morning. So cool.

Two-Hour School Delay
Thursday, February 15: Due to very icy conditions on the west side of our district boundary, all YSD schools will be delayed by two hours today. There will be no morning preschool, no morning classes at YV-TECH. Buses will be on snow routes (morning only).

**URGENT UPDATE** Due to road conditions, schools in the Yakima School District are now CLOSED today, Tuesday, January 23. There was a previous delay, but schools are now CLOSED.

The Yakima School District is hosting a Family Engagement Academy on October 25 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Washington Middle School located at 510 S. 9th St. Yakima, WA 98901. There will be childcare available.

The evening will feature dinner from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM followed by an update from Superintendent, Trevor Greene. Then, there will be three sessions for families to attend on the following topics.

🏫 Fentanyl Prevention Education

Last night we had our back-to-school open house! The evening included visits to teacher and school resource classrooms (counseling, nurse, etc.), a free book booth, community organization resource tables, tacos, and more!

Garfield staff completed nearly 470 home visits today to welcome our Garfield Greats back to school! It was amazing seeing our students and families! Special thanks to Jessie’s Sushi and Teriyaki, Majors, Stop and Go and Tamales Express for treating our staff to lunch.

Thank you PBIS team for organizing this super awesome Foam Run for our students and staff! We had bubble-loads of fun!

On April 27th, Garfield celebrated Día de Los Ninos with our students! We had a morning recognition assembly and in the afternoon, students got extended outside time to play and be creative. Their faces say it all. We had so much fun!

Today our staff stood outside in the rain to welcome back the GREATEST students in Yakima! We missed our students!

Join us for a fun Spirit Week at Garfield Elementary March 27-31. We want to see you ALL DAY EVERY DAY next week for conference week!
Monday: Dress For the Future Day! Come dressed as what you want to be when you grow up...a doctor, astronaut, soccer player...whatever you dream to be!
Tuesday: Ms. Rikard will deliver donuts to all the classes who had 100% attendance on Monday.
Wednesday: Bring Your Favorite Stuffed Animal Day!
Thursday: Just come to school as you are...we wanna see you!
Friday: Pajama and Comfy Clothes Day! Come dressed in your favorite PJ's or cozy sweats...just be comfortable! Also, this day each student who showed up ALL DAY EVERY DAY for the week will get a free bag of popcorn at the end of the day.
