Tuesday September 27th members from BALIKI, BALIGRA, and Pandemonium Steel Drum Bands traveled to Seattle for a Seattle Sounders game! BALIKI and BALIGRA toured the facility while Pandemonium played as the crowd entered. Afterward they all got to watch the game. It was a FANTASTIC time had by all! Thank you RAVE Foundation for bringing all of us over from Barge Lincoln to watch the game and for Pandemonium to perform!
Seattle Sounders FC and its charitable partner, RAVE Foundation constructed two new mini-pitches at Barge-Lincoln Elementary. The mini-pitches and gardens provide an important service for our youth, with bright inviting play and learning spaces. The space will remain open and available at all times to the community, preserving play opportunities for all children.
In the video, you'll see scenes from the inaugural ceremony held on September 17. The opening event included a performance by the Barge-Lincoln student marimba ensemble, a ceremonial first shot on-goal by Barge-Lincoln’s students, an all-school ball giveaway, and student speakers. The ceremony was followed by soccer skills training and scrimmaging with local club coaches and Sounders FC staff.
The ceremony also featured special guests and community leaders including Yakima Mayor Janice Deccio, the Head Consul of Mexico in Seattle Héctor Iván Godoy Priske, Yakima School District Superintendent Trevor Greene, Barge-Lincoln Elementary School Principal Tori Brennan, RAVE Foundation Executive Director and Sounders FC Vice President of Philanthropy Ashley Fosberg, former Sounder and current team Brand Ambassador Brad Evans as well as the University of Washington and EarthGen representatives.

It was an incredible day to be a Barge Lincoln Bobcat on Saturday September 17th!
The dedication of our two new mini-pitches, musicianship from our steel drum groups, taco truck and shaved ice truck, the soccer clinic with the Seattle Sounders, and the support from Brad Evans, UW, EarthGen, and Bale Breakers! There was support from the mayor, YSD, Barge Lincoln Staff, PTO,
families, Sounders Academy and the Washington Consulate to Mexico! The transformation of our playground has been amazing! The support we have received, the student leaders expressing their gratitude is awe inspiring! They spoke in front of almost 300 people! And the inaugural soccer pitch kickoff by our very own 5th grader Jordan! It was a fantastic Saturday at Barge Lincoln! WE ARE BARGE!!
