Yard Sale to benefit the ice rink and those who skate there happening TOMORROW June 22 at the KIMA Action News parking lot. If you have items to donate let us know and come see us! ⛸️🏒

06/19/2024

Ready?!? Let’s do this 💪

The YAHA Yard Sale to support the rink and its future functions (we have a lease for next year - yay!) will be on Saturday 6/22 from 8am-4pm in the KIMA parking lot. We are asking for clean, donated items that could be sold to help us raise money for the association. Items can be dropped off at KIMA on Friday evening (6/21) from 5pm-8pm. If for some reason you are unable to drop off your items at this time, please reach out to the yard sale organizers below and they can try to work out a plan to get your items.

We are also looking for a few more volunteers willing to help us make this yard sale amazing. We could use some help in the following areas:

Friday night item drop off and pricing
Saturday help during the yard sale.
Picking up items prior to the yard sale
Creating and hanging up signs for the yard sale
Tables to use during the yard sale.

We would really appreciate any help that we can get. I'm sure there are other ways we could use some help as well, if you can think of additional ways please don't hesitate to reach out.

If you are donating items, please make sure that items are clean and sellable. Also, feel free to price your items before donating, if possible. You can use the following pricing guide to help you:

-If the item is obviously used but still usable price at 10% of original retail value. (If it was $10 new: price it at $1)

-If like new or very gently used up to 30% of original retail value.

-Antiques/collectibles/high demand items such as tools, name brand clothes and accessories, etc. 50% of current online pricing (eBay, Mercari)

Please reach out to our Yard Sale organizers if you have any questions, need additional info, or are willing to help out. If you can help either by a donation of items or to volunteer, please let us know, so we can plan accordingly.

A message from Chris Bartheld:

I have some great news to share with you today. We have just negotiated a lease that will allow us to continue use of the Yakima Ice Rink for another season! This means that we will be able to provide youth hockey, adult hockey, figure skating, and public ice skating sessions for the 2024-2025 season. We are hopeful that the upcoming season will be the best one yet!

Get your skates sharpened, we’ll see you next year, Yakima.

Yakima Hawks fundraiser opportunity!

04/07/2024

Warning: Be aware of scams. Nothing should be purchased with the Yakima Ice Rink or Hawks logo that isn’t sold directly by the Yakima Ice Rink.

It has been brought to our attention that scammer bots are trying to get your hard earned money under the guise of getting some sweet Yakima Ice Rink gear. DO NOT FALL FOR IT! If it looks like the picture it is NOT us! Please do not try to buy our gear from a link that looks like this.

Thank you for your support

Last night this went down!
The ADULT Learn to Play 🏒 program skated against each other in the SHOWDOWN!
Team black came out on top on the score board but all of these adults played one heck of a game and it was so fun to watch. The stands were packed, signs were made and lots of cheering was done! Our designated rink rats (youth hockey kids that spend a lot of time at the rink) were also all there to cheer on their parents that were on the ice- congrats to all of you for putting it all out there- congrats to the coaches that grew this program and WE can’t wait to see where you are all at next year ——-> WHO is signing up next 👀?!?!

✨ Player of the Week ✨– Kyle Neptune – Kyle has been playing with us for 6 seasons now and just finished her season playing for 14u. Her favorite position to play is right wing. In practice this season, Kyle’s focus was working as a team and she was looking forward to winning games. 🙌 Her favorite team is the LV Golden Knights and her favorite player is Trevor Zegras because he is, “amazing at the Michigan trick”. In the offseason, Kyle will be snowboarding, 🏂 dirt biking, and riding quads. We wish Kyle a great offseason and can’t wait to see her back in black and gold again next season! Go Kyle and Go Hawks! 🖤💛🥅🏒

✨Player of the Week - Braylan Coppock ⭐️ Braylan has been with us for 5 years now and if you know him, you’ve heard the joke that he was born with hockey skates on 😂(Braylan first stepped on the ice at 18 months old) Braylan currently plays on 8u and his favorite position is forward. In practice, he’s working on shooting and backward crossovers. When he’s off the ice, he likes to play with his friends and go camping ⛺️. We wish Braylan the best of luck the remainder of the season and good luck at the 8u tournament this weekend! Go Braylan! Go Hawks! 🥅🏒

🥅 🏒 Player of the Week! ✨– Noah Serna – Noah has been with YAHA since the end of the 2022 season and has made significant strides as an athlete for our program. Believe it or not, Noah went to public skate with his family LAST winter for the first time ever and didn’t know how to skate… He was so motivated to learn and kept improving with each session. When he joined a team, Noah started practicing with 10u and moved up to the 14u team. He then practiced with both teams to practice as much as he could. Noah now plays for the 18u team and plays his favorite position, right wing. Commitment and dedication runs deep with this young man…

Coach Brady said this about Noah: “Noah started last year after tagging along after being bored one night and now has been growing in this sport and to see his love and dedication to Hockey that I have never seen in him with any other sport.”

This season, Noah dedicated his practice to working on his edge work and improving all around. Noah’s favorite team is the Seattle Kraken and his favorite player is Jared McCann. When Noah’s off the ice, he enjoys playing Fortnite and golf. Noah, cheers and congrats to another heart filled season! We can’t wait to see you on the ice next year! Go Hawks!💛🖤

🥅🌟Player of the Week 🌟 - Sloane Cavallo - Sloane has been with us for 1 season and plays for the 10/12u team. Sloanes favorite team is the Pittsburgh Penguins. In practice, Sloane is working on scoring, cross overs, and passing, but off the ice, playing the clarinet! Sloane is looking forward to growing as a player and is thankful for the coaches and parents who keep the Yakima Ice Rink running. Thanks Sloane! Good luck this season! Go #21!!! Go Hawks! 🖤💛

✨Player of the Week✨ – Kameron St. George.🌟🌟🌟 Kameron currently plays for the 14u Hawks and has been with YAHA for 2 years. Coach Kyle Dillon said this, “Kameron has been an invaluable part of the Hawks program. He shows heart and ability every practice and game. Definitely tough for the other team to get by him in the net. Always a great attitude and always a great team member.” We couldn’t agree more, Coach! This season Kameron looks forward to improving overall and getting a win! When he’s not on the ice, Kameron enjoys playing baseball, watching football, and playing hockey at home. His favorite team is the Seattle Kraken, and his favorite player is the goat… Marc-Andre Fleury!! When asked if there was anything else Kameron wanted us to know, he said, “I’m Stan St. George’s grandson and am trying to live up to his legacy!” Proud of you, Kameron! Go Kameron and Go Hawks!! 💛🖤

Rink Spotlight ✨- TJ Davis - This month we’re changing it up a bit with substituting Coach of the Month for a Rink Spotlight!!! If you’ve been here long, you’ve seen TJ around the rink.. a lot. TJ serves as an active board member for our rink but his participation doesn’t stop there. His daughter, said this about her father: “…This man right here is truly amazing. Not only does he pretty much live there, he’s always there to jump in and help wherever, whether that be coaching, reffing, buying supplies, putting on a whole tourney, helping with skate nights, or just being a hockey player. TJ aka Big Red aka GINGER, is such a sweet soul…He’s a wonderful dad, coach, and hockey player (in his dreams😂 jk)” Thank you, TJ!!!
