Twin sisters and are up next! Their show ‘The Onion Fields’ reenvisions the path their predecessors took through California as migrants and onion farmers and, in the case of their Mother, a portrait photographer. The pair have been working towards not only this show but a book of photographs on the same theme. We can’t wait to see it come to life!

A tour of the little room in which ’s Vessels sit, accompanied by a variety of objects transformed into sculpture from cardboard, wood, acrylic, canvas, glue, wax, and spackle, among other everyday items. In contrast, his paintings give the illusion of being made from various media — photography? collage? porcelain? — but are simply acrylic on wood. We’re lucky to have these and other works in ‘Nothing Nowhere’ on view, but only til Sunday! Be sure to book time with us before then if you’re in town. By appointment only.
We’re thrilled to have back following his 2019 solo exhibition way back when! 🥹 The Joshua Tree-based half of ‘Nothing Nowhere’ brings a series of larger scale paintings constrained to a mostly black and white palette, each depicting fleeting moments in various textures or states of fidelity. Characters and objects interplay within the scene but could almost be unrelated, as if they were collaged together after the fact. Tandem bikes and tubas interject a sense of playfulness, made serious under cover of grayscale.
Up first are ‘Each Others Own’, 60 by 46 inches, and ‘Sidewalk Sidewalk’, 40 by 46 inches, both acrylic and oil stick on wood panel.
’s stars — acrylic on wood, artist frame 🤩
Thank you to old friends and for collaborating on a very special show, ‘Nothing Nowhere,’ and instigating our Compact Residency, which takes its lead from locally-based artists. And thank you all who came out on a sweltering August eve to celebrate with us!
Compact Residency part two opens Saturday, Aug 10 with a split bill from JT artist and visiting Kingston, NY artist ! The two present a show of paintings and sculpture in a *mostly* grayscale palette (look closely for other hues peeking behind the surface). Only on view through Aug 25 before our regular programming resumes in September, so don’t miss this one!

ETHAN PRIMASON ・ needles on the ocean floor
needles on the ocean floor is a collection of sculptures focused on balance and weight as reflected in both material and composition. Ethan Primason’s approach to form is influenced by a dedication to repetition, labor, and creatively surrendering to generative compulsion. The work is a reflection of practice; a cycle of production, evaluation, re-production, re-evaluation.

Largely gathered and left over from work as a fabricator, raw materials such as steel, stone and wood are transformed and repurposed through chiseling, cutting, and grinding. Welding and painting are used to add volume and to reveal new textures, shapes, and forms.
