World Tuberculosis Day is observed each year on the 24th of March to raise awareness about tuberculosis, a contagious bacterial infection that mainly affects the lungs but can also affect other parts of the body.
Here are some facts about TB and World TB day:
1. Purpose: The main goal of TB day is to increase awareness about tuberculosis, its cause, symptoms, prevention, and treatment
2. History: World TB Day has been observed on the 24th of March for many years to educate the public about tuberculosis and its impact on global health.
3. Global impact: Tuberculosis is one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide and the leading cause of death from a single infectious agent (Mycobacterium tuberculosis)
4. Symptoms: Common symptoms of TB include a persistent cough, chest pain, coughing up blood, fatigue, weight loss, and fever.
5. Transmission: TB is primarily spread through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Close contact with an infected individual increases the risk of transmission.
6. Prevention: TB can be prevented through vaccination (BCG vaccine), early detection, proper treatment, and infection control measures.
7. Treatment: TB is treatable and curable with a combination of antibiotics taken over a period of several months. It's important to complete the full course of treatment to prevent drug resistance.
8. Challenges: Challenges in the fight against TB include drug-resistant strains of the bacteria, stigma associated with the disease, lack of awareness, and limited access to healthcare services in some regions.
"It is clear that the existing approach of waiting for symptoms to develop is insufficient if we are to reach the target of reducing all transmission of TB."

Let's raise awareness about sepsis, a critical infectious disease, and celebrate survival.
Around 40% of people who develop sepsis are estimated to suffer physical, cognitive, and/or psychological after effects.
As many as 60% of sepsis survivors are left not only with physical challenges but mental and emotional challenges too.
Sepsis is a life-threatening reaction to an infection. It happens when your immune system overreacts to an infection and starts to damage your body's own tissues and organs. You cannot catch sepsis from another person. Sepsis is sometimes called septicaemia or blood poisoning.
LOVE doesn't need to be perfect.
It just has to be true.
Happy Valentine's Day to all OHS On-Site's clients.
