My name is Luvo Mpi'yakhe Nyamakayishi Ntuma i am and have been active in the liqour trade longer than i can remember. My mother florence was running a shebeen as far as i remember from 1992 in site C khayelitsha C section. Well mybe before then just that i would come to spend my school holidays where i learnt this. As far as i remember back theni beer ey 1 would cost somethi like R2 to R2,50. Due to matters of that time which i have no details of she was sent away by abahlali base site C by the way i Waterfront no Nomnqwamzo e Site C was ready in operation an so she moved to makhaza 40 section 1993 my grand mother passes on and i had to move to cape town to live with my mother i attended Eluxolweni Primary school which was then based in the iqhayiya seconday school in I section. Due to manny factors including business as my mother would say that Makhaza is very far for her daily duties as The only transport that was available then was road transport which was costing her a fortune she the decided to move from there where she had her ERF stand and outside toilet and the streets were tared roads she the sacrificed all of that to come and build her one room shack in green point a pavement away from Lance-down Road she then started selling sour milk, and doing sewing. Sometime in1995 she introduced a Sheebeen and she named it Madlamini's Place and shortly after that a Spaza shop.
I rember one day my father Nceba Mabandlela and my mother came back from the whole sale where they would buy products for the shop. Tata took a calculator and the invoice for the products they had just bought. Tha was my first business lesson from my old man he taught me to calculate selling price from cost.it went like this cost+margin% + VAT= selling price. It looked kind of easy but i would live my life going forward living thru this calculation so my point here as i look. Things will always revolve over time.
