For under R500, my Avocado inspired One-Pot-Wonder for Food Lover's Market generously serves four people. It is a fusion on Spain and Mexico, with a winter warmer Salmorejo. Traditionally served cold with boiled egg and crisped ham, this flavoursome tappas style sauce can be heated up, and is the perfect base for seafood or chicken (probably everything else too tbh)
RECIPE: 3 cans tomato, 150g sourdough crumbs, a heaped tsp smoked paprika and mixed herbs, 4 cloves of garlic minced, 1 serrano chilli chopped, 50ml sherry vinegar, olive oil, salt & pepper | BLEND. HEAT. SERVE. (a full recipe will appear on my wall :)
A rough guacamole lends elements of freshness, and zing. The creamy avocado makes this dish dance a salsa and I love how the flavors pop in my mouth👌🏼
The base sauce is in fact vegan and goes terrifically well with grilled tempeh 🌱

My Uber charming server Heath suggested th beer battered Hake, I was very pleasantly surprised! Perfectly cooked with a light crispy batter seasoned just so. Served with a home made tartare sauce and very tasty fries! Unbelievable!
On Heath's suggestion I ordered the chicken schnitzel on my follow-up visit. Consistency is key and again, a perfectly prepared offering. I generally avoid ordering schnitzel as most places overcook the chicken, but not at Furley's. Panco crummed, beautifully seasoned, crisp but tender. I did not care for the taste of the mushroom sauce though, but I'm sure a basic cheese dipper or lemony something won't break the bottom line (if management would consider it) Apart from the sauce, out of 3 visits so far, there hasn't been a single miss step. Well bloody done!
They also have a two for one pizza deal (not sure when or what) but I've had the bacon avo Feta at R135 and two large scrumptious wood fired flatbreads arrived for my enjoyment.
Happy hour from 4-6pm means a draught Castle Lager is only R35!
Very near Newlands oval, so cricket fans should take note and slot a time to visit with the upcoming season.
