Why are Montessori schools all work and no play? This is a common misunderstanding of Montessori education. Dr. Montessori realized that children’s play is their work—their effort to master their own bodies and environment—and out of respect she used the term “work” to describe all their classroom activities. Montessori students engage in these activities with joy and focus—intent on mastering new skills independently! Learn more about Montessori. https://hubs.ly/Q02JF2fr0

Montessori: The world's most influential school? Tech geniuses, nation builders and famous artists have praised the benefits of a Montessori education – but does it hold up to scientific scrutiny?
Let us treat them [children], therefore, with all the kindness which we would wish to help to develop in them.” (Dr. Montessori’s Own Handbook)

Montessori has my heart!
Maria Montessori observed that children did not learn by passively listening to teachings. 🧑🏫 Instead, children learn through multi-sensory experiences in the environment. Based on her findings, she developed hands-on materials to help children develop to their full potential. ✋ In addition to working with materials, Montessori noted that children needed to move about in order to learn, and so, she incorporated freedom of movement. 🚶 The Montessori environment allows space for walking about, removing and returning materials to the shelves and practical life activities. 🧹 Some reasons why movement is important are:
📌Development of gross motor skills
📌Opportunity for thinking and observing
📌Care of the environment
📌Development of self-regulation and control
📌Awareness and respect for other’s work and space
❓What are some other ways that freedom of movement helps children learn?
We are our children's best method of learning to function in the greater world.

We as adults need to be reminded of this when we think putting pressure on our children to be perfect and act mature. But children need to be children and love their lives in a complete and confident way….. without pressure
It takes the right teacher, the right environment and passion for each individual child for there to be a change in this world. Again, we need to always choose kindness no matter our age!
In line with celebrating Youth Day, we need to remember that child learn through imitation. The words you use to others and the way you interact with the world around you is watched by little eyes and transferred to their friends, teachers and the environment around them. Be the person you want them to be, treat the people that serve you with kindness and appreciation and your children will learn to do the same. Academics are meaningless without kindness. Always choose kindness ( this is Bright Lights motto - ALWAYS CHOOSE KINDNESS!)
Time we start focusing on the now and not the what could become.
