Lake, Smit & Partners is delighted to introduce an exciting new service tailored exclusively for our esteemed Hillcrest patients!

In response to overwhelming demand, we are thrilled to announce that we now offer mammograms and ultrasounds at our state-of-the-art Just for Women imaging centre located in Overport. These services will be available on one Saturday every month, exclusively for the residents of Hillcrest.

To ensure the utmost convenience, we are also pleased to provide complimentary patient transport from our Hillcrest outpatient department in Meyrickton Place, Hillcrest to the mammography centre on the designated days.

At LSP, we remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering exceptional care and imaging services to both our valued new patients and those who have been with us for years.

We are excited to share that the Cansa Relay 2023, held at the Oceans Mall, Umhlanga, on 5th August 2023, this was an amazing event filled with hope, unity and determination; embracing the theme of this year's relay - "Fighting Cancer Together".

Our hearts are filled with gratitude as we reflect on the incredible support from all participants, volunteers, and sponsors. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Lake, Smit and Partners partnered with Life The Crompton Hospital to host an information session on Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer at Judah Ministries Prayer Centre in Shallcross on Sunday; 30th October 2022.

Dr M Gounder, Specialist Urologist and Dr P Govender, Specialist Oncologist presented the benefits of screening for prostate and breast cancer. Vimrashni Govender, Practice Manager at Lake, Smit And Partners shared the services offered, amongst others, the 3D Mammograms at the Just for Women Digital Mammography centre based at Suite 6, 2nd Floor, A & T Medical Centre, 22 Hopelands Road, Overport.

The event was well attended and great interest was shown in the advances made and the benefits of the early detection of cancer.

Lake Smit and Partners are privileged to handover a donation to two worthy organisations both dedicated to caring for our communities.

- Reach for Recovery provide emotional and practical support to breast cancer patients and their families.
- Highway Hospice provide care and comfort to the terminally ill who are approaching the end stages of life.

The handover took place on Wednesday 27th October 2022 at our Just for Women Digital Mammography Centre.

Breast Cancer Awareness month is an annual campaign to raise awareness of the impact of Breast Cancer as well as the importance of early detection for the successful treatment of breast cancer. Lake, Smit and Partners Just for women Mammography Centre have a specialist Mammography healthcare team in a dedicated and safe environment. We are open for bookings on Saturday, 29th October 2022.

Women’s Month reminds us to understand that women have a unique set of health care challenges and are at higher risk of developing certain conditions and diseases than men.

Breast Cancer is the Number 1 Cancer a­ffecting women worldwide and the 2nd most common Cancer among South African women.

Most women aff­ected are over 40 years of age, but it is becoming more and more prevalent among younger women too. It doesn't discriminate between age, race or income brackets.

Fact: One in 30 South African women are diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Early detection can save lives.
