Definitely no launches from Vetches basin tomorrow guys...this storm has already hit Durban and is forecast to blow the whole day and through Saturday night with 4m swells.
Check with safety tower if you do go to the club...he will probably close the launch site for safety reasons

Dear DUC and DSBC Members



What a weekend of sport we have just had! Besides the Bay Union Open Ocean Surf Ski Challenge series that took place at PWC on Sunday, we had Wimbledon Men’s Final, Formula 1, World Cup Cricket Final, the Tour de France with a South African stage winner and not enough TV’s to meet the demand.



Mike, the closing manager on Sunday, had to keep the club open after closing time to accommodate members who did not want to go home in case they missed something!



This weekend sees the first Springbok match of the season being played against the Aussies in JHB on Saturday 20th at 17h00. This match will be screened on the big screen at the club and the kitchen will be open for dinner until after the match (last order 19h45).

Bay Union Open Ocean Challenge Series



Race 2 of the Bay Union OOCS took place last Sunday. The third race in the series takes place this Sunday 21st July. Please see attachment for details and be aware that club parking will be at a premium for the next two Sundays due to this event being well supported by the club’s surf ski section.



Benny Bushwhacker – a theatre show on conservation



Benn Voss, a PWC member, is staging a conservation related show at the Elizabeth Sneddon theatre from the 31st July to the 11th of August.



As PWC is full of conservation minded members that do not use plastic straws, litter or throw cigarette stompies on the club grounds, Ben has given the club some tickets for members to go and watch the preview and opening night shows. This show is light hearted and suitable for kids.

What’s on this week?



Monday 15th to Saturday 20th SAUFF National Spear Fishing Champs:



PWC is hosting the South African Underwater Fishing Federation (Spear Fishing) National Championships this week. There are four competition days and weigh-in is in the late afternoons.

The competition follows conservation guidelines with more points awarded for fish that are common, encouraging divers to target species that are not threatened.



Thursday 18th Glenwood High School Old Boys social gathering



Club members that are Glenwood Old Boys are invited to join other GOB’s who will be gathering casually under the function tent area at the club on Thursday evening from 6pm to 10pm. Live music by Lance.



Saturday 20th Sharks vs WP at Kings Park at 14h00



PWC members and their guests are invited to watch the Sharks vs WP from a seat in a suite for R50 which includes a field parking ticket for every 4 tickets purchased. Drinks will be available in the suite at club prices and you are welcome to bring your own snacks or purchase from the stadium concession stands.



After the match, Neil Theron, PWC member and One Stop rugby box boss, has invited the members to watch the Bok / Aussie game at One Stop. Or you can watch it on the field at the band stand.
