Has the Nahoon River really changed ?
Take a look at the old aerial photograph found in the MEH Surveys archives of our neighbourhood ( Nahoon east London). The photo was taken in January 1939. It is interesting to compare this image to the attached google image of the same area taken in April 2014.
Apart from the urban expansion and densification of the residential area the Nahoon River looks surprisingly similar.
Global warming, urbanisation and many other reasons are often cited as being the culprits that have caused the severe silting of the river.
These images are surely evidence that apart from the chronic deterioration of the quality of the water nothing much has changed over the last 75 years?.
