The Black Archive Visual Podcast has finally released the last set of episodes. It was one of those experiences that really challenged me and made me think differently about what it means to develop knowledge and do so in different ways. I hope to take season 2 of this series at Cambridge University in the coming months...
This conversation was with the wonderful Assistant Professor Darien Po***ck of Boston University. Truly one of the best conversations I've had on that series. I enjoyed all of them, but this one was one of my favourites for sure!

We would like to welcome back all our returning students and would especially like to welcome our new comers, who will be reading with us for the first time; the First Year students. In the course of reading with us, you will consider a number of exciting and interesting questions; What is Justice? What is Freedom? How do we KNOW that we know (a branch of Philosophy called epistemology)? How do we make meaning of Life (a question falling into the bigger questions - the branch of Metaphysics)? What is good and bad action (Ethics)? And how do we determine that an action is good or bad (Morality)?
Above and beyond these exciting questions we deal with in Philosophy, you will also grow to become a sharper thinker, being able-even-to call out illogical forms of reasoning (when you see it, even from your lecturers and peers - in other disciplines). This is what we will give you, when you read with us! A clarity of mind and thinking that is unparalleled
The First Year (mainstream and Foundation) cohort will be taught by our Colleagues, Mr. Kumalo and Ms. Ruiters who will explore really exciting and interesting questions with you all. We look forward to getting started with the exploration of these incredible and useful questions😉

It's your last chance to add Philosophy for this semester. Come join us!
Did you know that the Philosophy department is deeply committed to the fight against gender-based violence at Fort Hare? This activism is rooted in the philosophical study of gender, feminism, justice, and inequality. Come study philosophy with us and with us against gender-based violence.
Course additions and cancellations are still possible for the next few days. If you haven't already, register to study Philosophy to deepen your understanding of yourself and the world around you. This can be the first step in fighting for justice, just like Wangari Maathai.
Looking for something to replace a course you have had to cancel? Why not try Philosophy?
Are you interested in understanding yourself and the world around you more deeply? Why not choose to study Philosophy with us? There is still time to add courses until the 15th April.
There is still time this week to choose Philosophy!
Philosophy can be a great addition to your degree; it can provide critical thinking skills to assist in your other subjects and career.
Come learn the tools of critical reading, thinking, and writing!
