Sunday looks set to be a great day Kirstenbosch Craft and Food Market

We’re so excited!!! AJ Brown (UK) will be joining Mike Campbell’s Craft Quartet on Sunday at the Kirstenbosch Craft Market.
AJ Brown is fast becoming recognised as one of the most exciting musical talents in the UK and has worked alongside some of the most recognised artists like Tom Jones, Burt Bacharach, George Benson, Simply Red, Marti Pellow, Will Young and Jools Holland.

If you rest you rust...it's important to keep moving as you age.

Stilts are used to build body awareness and balance as well as a great workout and strength builder for the core, back, and lower body, helping children develop physical abilities/skills that they don’t use normally.

Stilt walking is not only fun, it also helps to develop self-confidence and belief in one’s ability. Learning to stilt walk is a great way to fine-tune your coordination and balance. It also provides non-competitive physical activity and helps youth develop a positive relationship with their body through balance, physical strength and healthy risk-taking.

Stilt walking is a learned skill that improves balance, strength and coordination.

It takes patience and time to learn how to walk on stilts by themselves, so perseverance is a big part of getting there and a great experience.

Discipline is another important aspect of stilt walking. The beauty of stilt walking is that the attentiveness comes from the instinctive reaction of self-preservation.

It is also a way of putting mindfulness into practice, a skill that is most beneficial, just concentrating on the here and now, what the body is doing, forgetting about everything else.

Children love stilt walking because it’s so much fun and it gives them this great sense of achievement.

Huis Andries Olivier vir Kwadrupleë/House Andries Olivier for Quadriplegics will be at the Durbanville Craft Market with their book stall - please support these fabulous people, see you at the Durbanville Presbyterian Church Saturday 2 June 2018. Wooden Balance Craft, Cobwebs Art Fantasy and Mythical Clothing and Vanessa Ely will all be at the market - come try out the stilts - suitable for ages 5 and older, give a balance board a try, peruse the stalls and engage in some friendly banter with the crafters. Support local crafters :-) Indulge in a piece of cake in the tea garden, fancy a bit of spice on a Saturday morning samoosas and chilli bites on offer. Looking forward to meeting new people!
