Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist!

Doing this course was the best investment I have made in a long time. Not only did I learn so much about all the challenges of Pregnancy and Postpartum recovery, but also how much the body starts to compensate and how to correct that.

I am so excited to help all the mommies with their recovery and to get their bodies to work properly again after giving birth, no matter how old your babies are.😀

Today I GOT to run!

We got severe weather warnings for the past weekend and today, so I was not planning a run for today.

This morning when I woke up, the sun was shining and not a single drop of rain. Because I was not planning to run this morning, my motivation was VERY low and I was thinking of every excuse in the book to skip it and just carry on with my day.

I then decided I would go for a 5km run. It will make me feel great and at least I am doing something after lying around the house all weekend. I ended up doing a 10km run and it made me feel GREAT!😁 And I got to see this beautiful view of our mountains.

So even if you are not always in the mood or when motivation is low, just tell yourself you will do something for 15min or 30min. Chances are you will end up doing way more than the 15 or 30min and it will make you feel like you achieved something.

Motivation is not always there and it is not always easy, but it is always worth it.

We are halfway through the year and how is your new years resolution checklist looking?

Some managed to stick to it for a few months, did not reach it and forgot all about it or got too busy. Others haven’t even started with their goals.

It is not that you did not really wanted to reach that goal, the problem probably lies with your planning and the (lack of) system you have in place.

To those who are still going strong and smashing their goals, well done and keep going!

If you normally train outside, find something indoors you can do you keep you on track and moving.

Being pregnant can have a massive effect on the body. There will be lots of changes happening and it can get a bit frustrating.

Many women would love to continue exercising throughout their pregnancy or even want to start exercising to help with faster recovery. But don’t always know what to do or where to start.

It’s Monday again! Also known as the most popular day to start a new diet or exercise routine. Some people make it through the first month or 2, others are lucky if they make it till Thursday.

Stop starting a new diet every week and rather start with a new lifestyle change. This means there is no deadline. Most people start off with a very strict diet, they got from a friend or off of the internet, and the aim is to lose 10kg, 15kg, 20kg in 3 months. You go to bed hungry every night and feel irritated and exhausted all the time.

🍫Start by cutting out sugar where you can. If you can’t go cold turkey, start by cutting out a little bit everyday or every third day. There are also great substitutes you can find at your shops for a treat or occasion.

🥦Make sure you add plenty of vegetables and fruits to your meals. They make your plate look fuller and they have lots of health benefits.

🥩Opt for good quality protein and make sure to have enough protein with every meal. Remember, protein keeps you fuller for longer.

🥑Opt for healthy fats, not only does it help with cholesterol; it also keeps you satisfied and help with cravings.

🥖Replace your Carbohydrates (breads, pastas, chips, etc.) with healthier options. You don’t have to cut this out of your life completely; there are so many healthier options you can find in stores. Carbohydrates are your source of energy (depending on what lifestyle choice you choose), just always be mindful and not go overboard.

Every day is not going to be perfect, and you might have some bad days. But stay positive, carry on and make better choices with your next meal or the next day. Making a lifestyle change will probably take a bit longer to get to your goals. But you will feel more in control, by doing it at your own pace, and chances are you will stick to this for the rest of your life.

Instead, lets focus on the good and what we've got and achieved up until now. If you can walk or move around, then that is something to be grateful for.

Just pick yourself up and do a little bit everyday. Even a 20min session is better than nothing.

What a run it was yesterday. We normally do our long runs on a Saturday because we have more time and lots of chats to catch up on.

The weather yesterday did not look so great and we had some light showers for a few min....we almost did not do our run because of that. Luckily we decided to start anyway.

Then the wind started blowing....and boy that made the run so difficult.

But we made it and we were so glad we did it. It just shows you, it is not always easy, but it is ALWAYS WORTH it.

It is not always easy to start...or even easy to keep going and stay motivated weeks, months, years after starting.

That is why you need to remind yourself constantly, why you started in the first place. If it was to be healthier, run a 5k, lose or gain weight, correct your posture. Just keep going.

- When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. Endorphins triggers a positive feeling in the body, making you feel great and on top of the world. This feeling is often described as euphoric.

So on those days where you feel down or sad, go for a run, get on your bike or have a workout. You will be amazed at what a session as little as 25min can do.

Exercising on a Monday sets the tone for the week and will keep you more motivated to exercise the rest of the week. (Well that is my opinion)

If you missed your workout session yesterday, due to bad weather or whatever it might be, then today is the day to make it happen.

Same goes for eating. Sometimes we have a bad meal or a bad eating day! Stop punishing yourself for that, but rather fix it the next meal or the next day.

Stop waiting for a MONDAY to start! Start NOW
