It is no secret that our network has suffered after the September 2023 floods, and even though most of our network has been restored and is being enjoyed by many, we are still not able to host any events. It started with the loss of the W2W in 2023, followed this year by the Walker Bay Outdoor, and we will possibly miss out on a few more big events this year do to the ongoing road works and construction - possibly for a few years.

With no big sponsorships, and little support other than permit sales, we are facing a tough year. One of the farmers along our route has come up with this great initiative and has gathered some support from neighbouring farms to put together this amazing selection of wines - magnum, double magnum and imperial sized - as a fundraising initiative for the network.

Currently there is a chance of winning one of 7 bottles of wine, but we hope to add to this pot as the campaign continues. Entries to the draw is available via quicket - https://qkt.io/mtbwine - at R100 per entry.

For optimal bicycle maintenance, ensure your drivetrain is kept clean and well-lubricated!

To prevent excessive wear and tear, you might want to think about using two or three chains on a single cassette and frequently rotating them. Regular maintenance of the drivetrain not only helps in cost saving but also extends its longevity.

RED/BLACK updated map, with a new 16km (400m gain) new section for our BLACK route.
This is a rough - NOT TO SCALE - map of the new Black Route. A few locals tested it today and it is good to go. Tough 45km...especially the new piece which has some serious gain. PLEASE remember these trails are on working farms, so beware of animals, labourers and farm vehicles. The top end of this route also has bee-hives, and there is a detour available to miss them, but it will cost you some gain.

You are looking at about 45km, 1200m Gain.
Training for something EPIC?

Take the Karwyderskraal Road to the tar and back from the Bosman gates and add about 14km, 350m gain.

ROUTE BRIEFING REGARDING CHANGES:
On Bosman Wines, you will notice a left turn where we used to go over the A-Frame. You will stay inside the fence and eventually cross the Karwyderskraal Road to access the vineyards and fynbos of Bosman.
You will exit the farm in the tar road to Oldlands and Southend. At Southend, you will now turn left and follow a route around the orchards and fynbos areas, with some amazing views. You will then double-back the 1km of tar, until turning left into another part of Bosman Wines, where the route will take you down toward the Debos Dam before brdining you back to the tar road.
You'll follow the road to cross the dam wall and enter just beyond, where you will meet up with and stick to the RED route from there.

If you look at the map, you'll notice that you can also take The Gorge to the dam wall, then head towards Bosman and enter the trail from there - either at the A-Frame, or across from Haygrove Earth entrance.
