Die honde is veral in die warm somermaande gepik deur geelslange en pofadders.
Teengif was op 'n stadium landswyd feitlik onverkrygbaar, maar die goeie nuus is dat Strauss nou teengif beskikbaar het.
Sy sê dat 'n hond (nes 'n mens) baie deeglik dopgehou moet word om te bepaal of teengif nodig is, want sommige diere gaan juis in skok as teengif (onnodig) toegedien word.

Inwoners en besoekers sal die skitterende sterrehemel – spesifiek die sprankelende Orion – van nader leer ken tydens die Afrikaanse Taalmuseum en -monument (ATM) se sterrekykpiekniek op Paarlberg op Saterdag, 6 Januarie 2024. Dit beloof om ʼn feestelike aand in die beeldskone omgewing te wees; boonop is ʼn pragtige sonsondergang en ʼn gratis besoek aan die ikoniese beeldhouwerk ingesluit, én is die aand ten bate van ʼn goeie saak.

Locals and visitors will get to know the glittering night sky – specifically the sparkling Orion – better during the Afrikaans Language Museum and Monument’s (ATM’s) stargazing picnic on Paarl Mountain on Saturday, 6 January 2024. It promises to once again be a festive evening in the beautiful setting; in addition, a spectacular sunset and a visit to the iconic sculpture is included, and the event is in aid of a good cause.
